“fabulous four night break”
Reviewed October 24, 2011

Our group of 6 women ended up at the Nuramar because our original choice was closing early for the end of season. I was a little concerned after reading some of the old reviews, however I had no need, everything was brilliant if I had to find one negative it would be the fact that being two bedroomed two of our group had to sleep downstairs on sofa beds (one of which was me).We knew this before we booked it though. Being end of season it was very quiet in Calan Bosch and around the hotel other than, the noise we were making! This suited me as I prefer a quieter location. I think it would be a different story at peak times. It was excellent value for money with all inclusive food and drink. The suckling pig was exceptional, could just do with some right now!

Room Tip: All rooms are close to pool, reception and dining area.

Our party of 9 (4 adults 5 Children) recently got put in the Nuramar Aparthotel after an overbooking at our original choice, so we were a little worried at what it would be like but were pleasantly surprised at the very spacious split level 2bed apartments that were provided. Clean and well maintained the hotel has friendly staff, clean pool, never too busy even in high season. Entertainment is lacking just 3 nights out of 14, but the Magician was brilliant and engaged the children really well. It's a good 15mins walk to Cala n Bosch beach which in high season was rammed and impossible to find space on. The next beach a bus ride or 25mins walk (in the heat not possible) was Xon Xoriguer, this too was very crowded and rocky (beware we ended up going for stitches at the hospital for one of kids). Both beaches just can't cope with the size the resort has grown to. The kids club at the hotel seemed to have been patched together for high season with no structure or a qualified leader. She seemed to be the fitness instructor (although no fitness lessons were given) as the kids room was filled with gym equipment and spare tables and chairs. She offered colouring and painting then jumping in the pool various ways some of which we had to tell our kids not to do as they were dangerous. It was meant for kids 2yrs-12yrs but having not taken any names or even how many kids she had attending and letting them wonder back to the pool when they felt like it , I wouldn't have risked putting a child under 6yrs with her.
Food was ok, breakfast cooked and continental but always the same no variation. Also dinner had some sort of pasta dish sometimes 2 pasta dishes and things for the kids like breaded chicken or fish but again variation was limited. My son (9yr) said that after the 2wks the smell as he walked in the dinning room made him feel a bit ill. I knew what he meant as it was a little canteenish and samey. We had a vegetarian with us and she had to ask the chef to prepare something different on a few occasions as there was nothing without fish or meat. He was quite keen on seafood stews which didn't look very attractive. We did have paella one night and that was very nice. I was glad we were not all inclusive as I think to eat lunch there as well would have been very arduous.
Quite a few of the families there had been overbooked by hotels4u or Med hotels and put in the Nuramar as the alternative but we all wondered why this place was available in high season it felt like a back up hotel. The accommodation was very spacious and lovely and if I was going self catering (only 2 cooking rings) then I would go back there but not in high season as the beach was impossible. We did find a little gem down the road called Tatanic Park that had kids games (trampolines, ball pit, snooker) and a huge inflatable slide into the pool all free if you were having a drink or something to eat there, also the Goody Goody park down near the harbout was good value around 12euros for the whole day (you could return at night too) for the kids inc. lunch and again numerous bouncey castles, play areas and slides into the pool.

Room Tip: No bad rooms all located near the pool and in lovely gardens

Really excellent accommodation here - lots of little chalets in nice grounds, all centred around the pool. Pool a decent size. Toddler pool too. Accommodation spacious and clean. Lots of kids there when we were there of all ages - everything from teenagers down to toddlers. A word of warning - bar staff are quite happy to hand over alcoholic drinks to oldish looking teenagers - no question of any proof of identity. Everywhere spotlessly clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food a bit dull - fine, but a bit boring and a bit hit and miss for true vegetarians. Bus stop with frequent buses to Cuitadella was very close by, and there is a fantastic sunset to be seen each evening - just a 5 min walk away. Only disappointment was distance to beach - if you want a beach holiday I wouldn't choose Nuramar. You have to pay for sunbeds and umbrellas on the beach - quite dear - so if you want to avoid that cost it's best to take your own, which isn't ideal because it's a 10-15 min walk down to the beach, via a footbridge with lots of steps up and down. Pushchairs would be difficult - an even longer walk around the marina. Beach is lovely when you get there, but we found we went there less and less as the days went by and tended to stay around the pool, because of this distance. Cala'n Bosch is a nice little place. Recommend one of the boat trips - Don Pancho was good. Also did kayaking from neighbouring beach. Snorkelling good from beach, although there is very little or no shellfish - just lots of fish. If you want Mediterranean snorkelling, go to Malta! Lovely holiday.

I just arrived from Menorca, and we stayed at the Nuramar apartments. Every thing was very good and clean, with two restrooms (perfect! since we were 5 girls and shower time can be complicated). the staff was very friendly, we arrived very early in the morning (6:30am) and they already had or apartment ready, they also invited us for a coffee and pastries, overall was excellent.

When we arrived at nuramar we were still a little worried of what to expect for the coming week (because of the bad reviews), but straight away we were all surprised at how welcoming the staff were to us. The receptionist was very helpful with information needed
for the upcoming week and directions we'd need for excursions
After having such an amazing welcoming, we were shocked at how brilliant are apartment was, the Walls were a vibrant turquoise and the sofas very clean and extremely
comfortable, the kitchen had a working cooker, a microwave, fridge, etc. Although none of thiswas actually needed as we were
all inclusive, but still it was nice to
know those facilities were still available. There was also an indoor
and outdoor dining table, the
outdoor one was situated near a
palm tree which I thought made it
more beautiful to sit outside.
Anyway as we walked upstairs, we
were all very happy at our
bedrooms, the double bed room
especially as it had a balcony
looking upon the villas opposite and
the interesting road to the town.
The single bed rooms were just as
good, within the room was a triple
doored wardrobe one or which
contained four shelves, which I
personally found helpful.
The bathroom very Clean, the
shower good, not amazing as was
not that powerful but we didn't feel
it affected our stay whatsoever!
we all found it lovely how the hotel
had provided little pouches laying in
a mini pot on the sink, inside the
mini pouches were; shoe polish,
shampoo, shower gel, Combs etc.
Also The towels were cleaned daily!
The hotel itself was beautiful, it was
clear the colour theme of the hotel
was clearly warm colours,as the
outside of the reception,
apartments, restaurant, games
room, etc were all a smoothly painted dark orangey red colour
which just made the stay at
nuramar even nicer as I think little things like that make a difference.
Our days mainly consisted of relaxing by the pool, or taking a two minute walk to the waterpark ( which all nuramar guests get unlimited free use of, for all people debating whether to come to nuramar Id like to warn you there is a shortcut to the waterpark, walk through the hotel next door and cut through the small gate near the volleyball court, :) anyway.. ) or
taking a five minute walk down to
the nearest beach which was truly
breath taking, the sea was
unrealistically clear! The beach was
surrounded by huge rocks, the
beach itself was small but not too
small, the sand White and soft.
probably the best beach or even country I've ever been too.
We went as a family ( one was daughters friend ) of four and the
children both aged 15, loved it and say they are 'dying to go back'.
The marina which was surrounded by endless amounts of bars and restaurants was just a short walk from the hotel, so there was plenty of things to do during your stay, even though we all still felt it was still an extremely relaxing holiday.
We all loved the barmen + women at nuramar they were all so kind and attentive, and very good at English which helped when ordering a mixed drink.
One thing which some people may
think is good and some bad is that they were serving children which were clearly under 18 (13) drinks
like vodka etc.
But that doesn't alter the fact that the bar attenders were all very lovely and smiley!
The food served at the restaurant
however was mixed opinions within us all as two of Us who were staying during our stay ( the children ) are vegetarians at the food for vegetarians was awful!
There was literally nothing apart from chips and flavourness salad, there was slices of cheese but they
were situated on a board laying next too/touching slices of ham.
After telling the chef that the children are vegetarians he kindly
offered to cook them spaghetti and tomato sauce which they throughly enjoyed, we all saw a noticeable difference in the food being served
after this point as there was now always a vegetarian suitable disk available, however we (the none
vegetarians) thought the meat and fish dishes etc were cooked BEAUTIFULLY, and the sauces.. Full of flavour.
During our stay there was two one
metre dished paellas cooked (the second cooked because the chef asked us what we would like on our
last day.. Which we thought was very sweet) the paellas were truely lovely, and cooked to perfection.
The puddings at nuramar were very strange, for example pink sloppy puddings were available but this was expected from an all inclusive as the same type of puddings were served at previous all inclusives we've been too.
Drinks in the restaurant were good, there was drink dispensers for; diet coke, coke, 7up, fanta, fizzy
, and sin miguel (beer) and bottles of wine were chilled in a ice tub to be expected for you to help yourself.
Entertain was good but only happens twice a week, more entertained would have been better.
The holiday overall was amazing! We all equally loved it, was vert enjoyable.
And we would definitely stay at nuramar again.
Also i would like to say how the torn cala'n Bosch we felt is very much suited for a couple looking for a relaxing stay, As there is lots of
beautiful romantic views etc. But the hotel nurumar would probably jot be the place for couples as there was alot of family with young children around ages 3-9.
Also we would not recommend flying with easy jet to any of your
holidays as we qued for 2 hours to be checked in and then just as we were about to be served at desk they stopped all check ins for menorca and made a new desk for 'last calls to menorca' ( with 40 minutes
until boarding) we then had to que for another 15 minutes, and then sprint to security bit, que for another 10 minutes, with 15 minutes left to board at an announcement 'last calls to menorca' we had to sprint to our flights.. A minute later and we'd have missed it. The children were extremely annoyed as we'd arrived very Early to the airport and we expected to have time to eat and
shop but instead we had time for nothing.
So we felt the welcome at nuramar was very important.

This place has had some terrible reviews in the past - dont worry this is good spacious basic accomodation we had a two bed apt with large downstairs living room / kitchen, two bathrooms, air con, a balcony, a patio , a drying area. The all inc. food is really very good spanish fayre - there were always one or two really good dishes among all the other stuff - monkfish, suckling pig, pork tenderloin etc were excellent with chips and nugget type food for the not so adventureous. Forget having to que for anything at this place as there are so few rooms and the staff are very friendly and attentive. While we were there we had a nice mix of guests and nationalities - everyone got on well with each other - no bagging sunbeds necessary. The Hotel had some entertainment twice a week which we enjoyed and childrens activities between 1600 and 2000 which my 10 year old wanted to attend - she has never wanted to go before. The marina is a gentle 5 minute walk away.

Room Tip: All rooms seemed ok - couldnt pick out a bad spot.

Prior to our stay at the Nurmar we were a little anxious given the reviews lodged to date - however having stayed there for 2 weeks at the begining of July, we had no grounds for concern. It is not located in the middle of the town but it is only a 10 minute walk away. It is not a loud busy hotel but it was a very socialable hotel which because of it's small size was able to provide a high level of service at reception, bar and restaurant.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment over 2 floors with an upstairs balcony and a downstairs patio. The apartment was air-conditioned and well equiped including a full size fridge. The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis and there were always lots of fresh towels provided. Overall it was a very good standard of accommodation and perrfect for a family with two teenagers.
The restaurant offered a reasonable range of food at all meals and there was always something for everyone and we never experienced running out of any dish. Breakfast in particular offered just about everything that you could ever want.
The Numar "complex" is small and set in lovely gardens which you could enjoy from your own patio or from a very pleasant pool area. There were many advantages to this small size;no queues at the bar, no "towels at dawn" or sunbeds 2" part which is standard practice in most hotels.
Overall the Nurmar offered an opportunity for a very relaxing holiday ina great location which was very good value for money.
