“Great holiday - Staff were excellent!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2013

Just returned from a fortnight stay at the viva menorca, and had a fabulous holiday. There were a big group of us, 3 grandparents, myself and my wife, and our three daughters aged 4 and twins aged 2.

The good -

The staff and service was fantastic, from the management through to the cleaning staff - really made you feel welcome, always a smile and a 'hola' and they were really friendly and engaging with the kids, couldn't fault it. Apparently they are the best paid in the resort and it shows.

The pools were great, the kids loved the splash pool, the pirate ship is a great feature and there are enough slides to keep all ages happy. The only point worth mentioning is the slope into the pool was a little steep for my 2 year olds, which worried me in the beginning but they soon gained their confidence and there is a sign saying the pool is for 3-12yr olds only. The main pool is lovely too and warm which was a pleasant surprise, my 4 yr old learnt to swim in the big pool so i was very happy

The whole hotel is spotless - the cleaners remind me of that Tasmanian devil cartoon - never seen anyone clean so quick, its like watching a mini whirlwind with a feather duster poking out one side and a mop out of the other.

Food was great in the restaurant, big selection and they have themed nights, Mexican Moroccan etc. the food was too good really, I think if I’d done another week I’d have exploded. There is also a poolside bar which serves a great selection of proper meals which is very handy as you are not tied to restaurant opening hours and you can stay in your swimmers.

Entertainment was a real mix - there were a couple of nights I could have done with one of those red buttons from Britain’s got talent, but there were also some really good acts. Bubbles the clown and the acrobats were probably the best - but it’s all a matter of personal taste really. The one thing I was a little disappointed with was the kids disco I have seen better. But have to say the entertainments manager - Bastian was good. There is also a really good play area and bouncy castle next to the entertainments area which my kids loved, but at night while the shows were on it was a bit 'lord of the flies' like as there were loads of unattended kids everywhere, which was alright for my 4 yr old but after the first couple of nights I just let the twins go on during the day

The average -

It's a bit on the pricey side we went all inclusive and it was expensive. Having said that mojitos were included, and over the two weeks I’d probably had enough of them to come out on top. Also the rooms do not feel 4 star - the furniture is all a bit shabby and worn, but according to the owner of one of the bars around the harbour it seems to be like that in Menorca, 4 star is more like 3 star, but he did say it was the best in the resort, and it never bothered me

It is a bit of a trek to the beach, needed a pram with the 2yr olds, but there is a train which runs down to the beach regularly and we hired a 4 man pedal car which was great fun going to the beach because its downhill, on the way back it was more exercise than I intended doing on holiday, but then i suppose it worked off the plate of bacon I’d had for breakfast and again the kids loved it

The bad - None really

Resort is lovely, stunning beach, great for the kids, sea stays shallow for ages - but it does get very busy, so go early if you can. Harbour is nice too. Did a day trip to Ciudadella also – which is a lovely chilled town and hired a beach buggy type thing to explore the local beaches which was fun - the pick of which had to be Cala en Turqueta which is well worth a visit.

Would thoroughly recommend the hotel and the resort for a fabulous family holiday, i wouldn't personally go back, but that's just me - there is too much of the world to see to visit the same place twice, but i can understand why people would

I have just returned from Viva Menorca with my wife and two kids after a 10 day stay,
It was our first holiday for our two girls (aged 4 & 7), My wife really did her homework before we booked as top priority was to find a hotel aimed at the little ones, we decided on this hotel and booked all inclusive with Jet2 holidays

Hotel Viva Menorca did not disappoint ,
We arrived late on a tues night around half nine after a pretty long bus transfer from the airport (about 1.5 hrs)
We were greeted at reception by very friendly staff who checked us in and after informing us that evening meals were finishing but they would prepare us a cold buffet directed us too our room,we were in 4123
On entering the room our initial thoughts were that it was really small, however as the holiday progressed we found we had plenty of room for the 4 of us,
The room was spotless, fixtures and furnishings were all in good condition,
The holiday went by without a hitch, the food was excellent, very fresh and varied and catered for almost every need, if anyone had additional needs I have no doubt the chefs would be more than happy to oblige and rustle something up,
The pool bar choice during the day was excellent with virtually every item in the varied menu included all inclusive , actually on that point the bar choice included almost every alcoholic drink all inclusive too and not just the local products as is the norm,
The activities for the kids are too many to mention and are all fantastic, the entertainment team led by Bastian all in my opinion deserve a medal, how they keep their level of enthusiasm night after night is beyond me, the adult entertainment from 9pm to 10pm was really good too, during our stay we had everything from magic shows to lady ga ga tributes,
The pools are really nice and clean, they are patrolled by very friendly vigilant life guards,
The hotel operate a sun lounger policy where the life guards will leave a card on unattended beds warning that if no one returns within the hr the beds will be stripped of towels and belongings, this stops the crack of dawn lounger hoggers, we never once struggled to find beds,
The rooms are cleaned thoroughly every day with the exception of two (Thursday & Sundays)
Turning left out the front of the hotel the town is a short walk away with lots of nice walks and shops by the harbour, there are shops across the road from the hotel for basic supply's,

Our stay at the hotel was fantastic and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a family holiday with kids,,

The only suggestion we could make (and its very minor) is that it might be an idea to bring a foldaway buggy if you have a little un, they are available to hire from the reception but every one we hired was in very poor condition and broken in some way,

Have just returned from our second holiday at Viva Menorca and it was just as good (even better) than when we first went 2 years ago. The facilities are excellent - the kids have plenty to do, therefore making parents happy so that you all feel like you've had a holiday. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Really can't fault the place and have no hesitation in recommending to anyone look for a great family holiday.

Room Tip: The rooms in the first block are nearest the main road, so you do get a bit of traffic noise early i...

Just back from the viva menorca and when I often read reviews I worry about peoples gripes and that my holiday is going to be a nightmare. But I can safely say that our group of 4 adults 2 kids aged 4 and 5 had a very enjoyable time.
When we arrived the hotel was the last drop off from the airport so its over an hours drive however the buses are air conditioned so it was comfortable. When we got too viva we were kindly welcomed and given some details about the resort and a map of around it.
There are 4 blocks in the viva hotel, we were in block 3. Our apartment was fine for us. As stated in previous reviews I read it could do with a lick of paint however it was clean and spacious enough for us. We went self catering and there was a microwave kettle toaster and two ring electric cooker and a fridge which had a complimentary bottle water in it.
Housekeeping was everyday except thursday and sunday. Floors washed and towels changed every day. Maids were very friendly and they even changed my bedding after my son had an accident without any bother.

The hotel also has free wifi.

This hotel is definitely aimed for families with kids. There is a small swing and seesaw quite old at one end of the resort. At the other end where the evening entertainment takes place theres a bouncy castle and a big activity climbing area with slides. So the kids could run around and play while you sit relax next to it with a cocktail.the evening entertainment was ok it finished around 10pm each night. Starting off with mini disco for kids and the entertainment was different each night with thinks like singers tribute act, circus act, bubble show etc. It was ok nothing amazing.
Throughout the day there are activities on at different times and there is a board in the hotel telling you times and whats on. Such as xbox football face painting voleyball tshirt painting etc. There is also a miniclub for the kids with activities through the day.

There are two pools a kids splash pool with a pirate ship and a larger pool at a different part of the resort. There is a very narrow road runs through the resort which not many cars go through, the pool areas are on either side of this. Which wasnt a problen for us as we took the kids to the small pool in the morning then to the larger pool in the afternoon. There is a snack bar at the larger pool which is open from 10am till 6 or 7pm burger chips pizza etc all very nice. Sun loungers were not a problem as you are not allowed to leave your towel for more than an hour and go away. There were life guards at the pool areas who were very good with the kids and done there job very well for example kept on at people for spraying people in the face with water guns etc.
There are games on around the pool area through the day in the larger pool which keeps the kids entertained.

We went self catering but wish we had went all inclusive as we would have been better off however u can upgrade each day to all inclusive for 48 euro each day 24 euro for kids over 2.

Around the resort theres not very much a few supermarkets a karaoke bar and a little restaurant called la orca which was very friensly and the food was beautiful. However just along the road is the marina it is a five minute walk even if that. The marina is absolutely beautiful with lots of bars and restaurants around it. There is a band stand in the middle of the marina which has entertainment on all evening.

Just as you enter the marina sits goody goody park. Fantastic place to spend all day with the kids. There is a splash pool with two flumes for kids. A soft play area a bouncy castle area trampolines and mini golf. Its around 3-5 euro to get 2 hours on each however you can buy the kids a wristband for 12 euro which includes a meal which costs 6 euro itself and is unlimted time on everything. And there are sun loungers which you can top up your tan while the kids have fun.

There are a couple of beaches near however they charge 18 euro for one lounger!!

I would definitely recommend viva menorca to anyone. And will be returning again.

My family and I have just returned from Viva Menorca and thought it was amazing. This was my first all inclusive holiday and I enjoyed it that much we are looking to book another Viva holiday next year. The food was fantastic, different every day and night. I am quiet a fussy eater but still managed to find something different everyday. The place was very clean and staff were all excellent. My nieces loved the children's club and the adults loved the cocktails. The entertainment was not fantastic but everything else made up for that. The bar seemed to empty after the show around 10.30 but we found a karaoke bar a short walk away called the big apple that stays open till early hours for anyone wanting to party. Would certainly recommend it to families or couples looking for a quieter relaxed holiday.

To put it simply, we just didn't want to come home. From the minute we arrived (late on a Fri night) we were offered a buffet of food after a warm welcome from the reception staff. Nothing is too much for the staff at the Viva Menorca. The room was excellent, the food varied, fresh & cooked to perfection, it never felt to busy even though the hotel was fully booked due to the festival of Saint Juan, & every staff member took the time to talk to you & to make a connection with you. The entertainment was just right with Bastian doin a great job with his team to ensure everyone had fun & activities to do if they wished. Having done All Inc for the past few yrs we were unsure how this hotel would fare as others limit what & when you can drink & or eat.... not the Viva Menorca. Other All inclusives could learn a thing or two from this hotel. On our last day I made a point of speaking to the Director to congratulate him on how good this hotel is. We will be returning as we could not fault this hotel at all. If you have a young family & what a great stress free holiday we would definately recommend the Viva Menorca

We were six of us 4 adults and twins and had a great time. We had been to can picafort two years ago but this Viva was cleaner, quieter and a bit smaller. The bedding was not so scratchy but bed and pillow did back and neck no good at all. I removed the mattress protector from our beds (have not quite reached the need for these at 64!) they left them off which was appreciated. We did not go "full board" and have to say we were in the minority. We used the buffet a few times as could not be bothered to got to Marina which was only 10 minutes away but with 4.1/2 year olds it was not always easy. The food was very good, we find buffet difficult as not ever eats at the same time! The bar did not open until 6.30p.m. and food was 7 I believe. The Bufo mini disco was at 8 which we found rather late for the little ones but enjoyable. Our rooms were kept very clean and staff very pleasant. We were impressed to see a lifeguard on duty and also oversaw that beds were not claimed at crack of dawn and left empty which is a fair way to do it. We had no trouble getting sun beds, these at the kids pool were newer and much more comfortable. The whole area is very quiet and the beach is quite a distance but beautiful. We hired a car for 6 days quite reasonable but could probably have done without but nice to know it is there. We drove to Mahon which is lovely and worth a look. We had been there on a cruise and remembered the beauty of the harbour. Plenty to do for the kids, t-shirt painting and games and medals given at disco which was lovely. The only gripe would be that the sand pit at kids club was baking no cover, a tent coverage of some sort would be nice. The food at the pool bar was excellent and good price. The childrens play area, bouncy castle etc was near a road and this was a bit of a worry and also this road (quiet) had to be crossed to get to eat and childrens pool.! All in all would recommend this time of year (June) before schools break up and too crowded would be a problem. We had a great time and would use another Viva at another time. Would not return to Menorca as more exciting finding new places. No shop on premises, and we were not informed that if required there were some buggies available which would have been good to know. There are washing facilities but only two ! machines which seem to take ages and also tumbling took a long time.

Room Tip: The rooms are a good size but unfortunately there are "no" lifts to top floor thankfully w...
