“Overall - a very enjoyable stay”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

We stayed at the Sal Falco from 16-23/09/2013.
On first arrival we were greeted warmly, and I had a good feeling about the atmosphere of the place. When we got to out family room, I was however a little disappointed - as many have mentioned, the rooms are a little tired now. However, having said that, I soon found that this was really only aesthetics - and if you can look past that (don't get me wrong - they are not *that* bad either - but definitely 3* at very best, and some of the fittings are poor quality) you soon find that they are actually well appointed - and the things you need are there. Good size safe, decent shower always with hot water (poor shower curtain protection however - seems almost impossible to prevent annoying bathroom floor floods), plenty of storage space, fridge, telephone, hair dryer. The TV however, not so good. Looks like a museum piece and provides a poor reception with only 2 English channels (both news). This is a little disappointing in 2013 - especially with a young child. We don't go on holiday to watch TV but when you have to be back to the room quite early to put your child to sleep it would be nice to have the option of some entertainment (thank goodness for the iPad and downloaded video content).

This was our first experience of all inclusive and it's pretty much what I expected. For a family with kids I think it works very well - the key being there's no waiting around for food and there's a good selection every day. The quality is variable - a lot of it very good (considering it's buffet - you can't expect a la carte standard, but it's very decent - I always enjoyed what I ate), some of it just 'ok'. Although there is variation - it's not huge but it's just about enough. The biggest problem is the temptation to eat too much ! ;-)

The staff are definitely worth a mention. We found them all friendly, helpful, hard working and mostly efficient. The grounds are kept looking very nice, the pools clean, the rooms clean. Sometimes the speed of clearing plates away in the restaurant could be improved - and at times when we wanted to sit in the outside area for lunch or dinner, many of the tables had been used. vacated but then not cleard and re-set which meant we ended up inside. However, relatively minor quiblle and on the flip side, When we had a problem with the room safe @ 22.30 pm - a call to reception and within 10 mins a technician had been out and fixed it. Special mention for Tomas in the restaurant and the girl usually on the information desk (sorry, didn't catch your name) who were always particularly warm and welcoming.

There are some other things that make this Hotel a very good choice too. Proximity to the beach - short walk (5 mins) and you are at a lovely little sandy beach with a small number of shops/restaurants. And just a little longer walk and you are @ Cala'n Bosch Marina. It's pretty much ideally located from that perspective - with supermarkets also nearby.

So what could be better? As mentioned, the rooms, and the TV. But the one thing that did really irritate me (and perhaps it won't everyone) was Wi-Fi access. 4 Euros for an hour (or I think 11 for all day) and then it doesn't even work in the rooms - only in the central hotel areas. In my opinion, in 2013, Hotels should NOT be charging guests for Wi-Fi access - and it should be available in every room at no charge. First hotel I've been to in quite some time when you are charged for Wi-Fi. Perhaps Menorca is a little behind in this regard.

So in summary. Good hotel - all the important things it gets right (except for Wi-Fi access and TV facilities). As long as you can look past the room aesthetics / fittings quality - you should have a very enjoyable stay here and should we go back to Menorca, I would definietly consider staying again.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Mansion block - which was slightly away from center of the Hotel and therefore a li...

We arrived in Menorca at the sol falco hotel on Friday 13th September. An omen some would say...the rooms are a little dated as previously mentioned by others, but no one could fault the dedication of the staff.the hotel was clean and the pool area immaculate although the pool was very cold!! But you soon warmed up .
The evening entertainment was absolutely fantastic..we had the Lion king, grease el divo tribute act .flamenco dancers ,mamma Mia and Motown ...each night was different and the team were excellent..I had been concerned that the Fred flintstone theme maybe a bit to much for my husband but he loved it.the team worked tirelessly to keep the children entertained and we are still singing the catchy tunes ...
We only have two complaints...the first being smoking.....it was everywhere...we often choose to eat our meals in the courtyard but were constantly bothered by second hand smoke.. These people don't smoke while they are eating their meals but think it's ok to let smoke waft over me while I eat mine.also there should be no smoking around the pool area...
The second problem was the WFI and having to pay for it..absolute disgrace this is the 21st century..I can access free WFI at a cafe but have to pay 4 euros for 1 hour......there should be free WFI ....

Stayed at the Sol Falco on an all inclusive basis 14/9/2013 to 21/9/2013. What a great place to stay. food variety and quality very good, apartments clean and comfortable, good friendly service by all the staff. plenty of pool side beds. entertainment for children is good. and adult shows which start at 2200 are excellent, something good on each night. The management of the Ellysee hotel in Alanya Turkey should pay the sol falco a visit and get some idea of how a good hotel should be run. will certainly return to this hotel again. review left by Mike Buckley. I stayed at Sol Falco with my husband and 1 year old twin daughters in July 2013. The hotel and staff were excellent. There were several pools with plenty of beds available.Cots were provided in the room. The cleaner ensured she cleaned around the babies day naps. The food in the restaurant was excellent and even baby mush was provided for the babies! There were plenty of high chairs available and lots of staff to clean up. The location was excellent. A five minute stroll to the beach, ten minutes stroll to the marina with lots of restaurants. Plenty of supermarkets nearby. I would definitely recommend.

We (couple in our 50's) had a great week at the Sol Falco the 1st week kids were back in school , there were a few pre school infants about so a few screams and cry's. Hotel clean and tidy ,food to a good standard given Sol rate it 3star . We have stayed with Sol before so knew it would be a bit repetative .Drinks and coffee excellent . It may however be an idea to open a Coffee only area as the 1 bar can at times with Spanish and Italians ordering espresso take up some time . Getting service for drinks a little longer than acceptable at times.
Plenty of sun beds ,some a bit tired and worn . Pools we found were cold and surprised they were deep and each pool at the same depth so no walking in to a desired depth , I would have been a little worried if I had young kids , there were however lifeguards on duty .
Staff were excellent and very helpful and efficient ,we had a problem with our safe and I rang reception early evening and was told 10 minutes, a maintenance man was there in 5 and all was sorted. Waiters and bar staff very good and nothing was too much trouble for them, all staff seen to be tidying and cleaning so there is no mess anywhere.
The 1 restaurant gets a little hectic but plenty of tables,a nice courtyard for dining outside is open at meal times which we chose and it was lovely .
Our room on the second floor was again clean, free safe and shower gel ,dryer etc.TV 2 English channels both the news!
The resort in only a short stroll away ,Noddy train passes the hotel if you want to wait for it.
Plenty of choice in restaurants around the marina and some shops .
The beach about 3 minutes from the hotel ,we walked too it but didn't use it .
The bus stop outside the main reception gets a little hectic ,we took a taxi about 17 e to Citudella and the bus back about 4e ,we would suggest you don't miss it !

Room Tip: Some rooms around the main pool and open terrace area may get a little bit of noise ,

Just returned from a very good week at the Sol Falco, our first time in Menorca.

The hotel is a large, low level, max' 3 storey, complex of 8 blocks with 7 swimming pools in one of the nicest resorts we have ever experienced. The hotel specialises in facilities for children including a Flintstones theme kids club & dining area & one of the best pool areas we have ever seen. We wished we had found something like this when our two were toddlers.

Rooms:
We were in Aldea which was right next to the main pools, reception & dining room. On the 3rd floor an easy climb up. Very good room, furniture looked new, lovely bathroom with shower over bath, bidet etc, all very clean & excellent condition. Ample storage for clothes & a FREE safe!!!
that alone saved us 35 euros on last year in Croatia. Shower gel & hand soap are provided also a hairdryer.
AirCon worked well there was also a ceiling fan which was a bit noisy for sleeping, beds a bit on the firm side but we both slept well. Despite being next to the main building where all of the bars & entertainment are there was no noise at all.
Usual TV with 2 UK channels, Sky & BBC world news. Also a mini fridge, ideal for keeping the bottles of free water in.

Pools & Grounds:
Wow 7 pools, 3 grouped together, 2.3 m'ts/1.9 m'ts & toddlers at 0.7 m'ts & very safe with barriers between. All very clean & well maintained, we saw the water being checked daily.
The other pools, 1 is adults only, are spread around the complex all are 1.7 m'ts also very clean & well maintained, as are the grounds a real tribute to the grounds staff.
Plenty of sunbeds, some are showing a bit of age, but all are usable. Shading is by fixed pole topped with thatch but are numerous, we seldom had a problem when we wanted one & the hotel was busy.

Beaches & Resort:

Cala'n Bosch is a really lovely resort, very clean, quiet with 2 great beaches. Both are just a short level walk from the hotel. Son Xorgieur is closest, just 5 min's from the back of the hotel & Cala'n Bosch is next to the Town Centre Marina a 7 to 10 min walk, (left out of the front of the hotel) Both are sandy beaches, very clean as is the water, with very safe & shallow access to the water, perfect for kids & swimmers alike. For 2 sunbeds & Shade you will pay 15 euros on Son X' & 12 euros on Cala'n Bosch, there is ample space if you prefer your own towels or airbeds.
The Marina is great, plenty of Bars, Restaurants, Shops etc but no Discos, so has a really nice welcoming atmosphere. If you want to book boat trips etc this is the place.

Food & Dining Room:

The All Inclusive dining is exactly what anyone who is used to this style will be familiar with. Plenty of both hot & cold food choices with show cooking from Grill, Paella & Pizza bar. Numerous theme nights during the week. Breakfast is good, fresh cooked eggs, plenty of cereals, Croissants, Bread, Fruit etc, unfortunately no English sausage but that is not unusual, this is a predominately Spanish & Italian hotel. If your looking for 4/5 star cuisine then don't book an All Inclusive holiday.
The Dining Room is vast, can be a bit noisy, there is a separate outside courtyard section mainly for those who cant survive without having to light up, but we used it everyday & seldom saw any smokers at all. In line with the hotel having a "Flintstones" themed kids club there is also a "Betty's Kitchen" area for kids. After breakfast the bar opens with a small self help snack bar on the side, there is also a separate seating area here as well. All of the staff are very welcoming & friendly & very hard working.

Bars & Entertainment:

The entertainment area is inside next to the dining room & is also where the bar is. There is a Terrace section just outside by the side of the main pools. The only grumble we had was with there being only the one bar open at a time, there are two bars but 1 is used at lunch time & the other in the evening. This means that bar service can be a bit slow & you need to be "non British" & a bit European to be served. The bars also serve the after dinner coffee (very good coffee too) which also slows the bar service down. This said the bar staff are very good & hard working & do their best to serve everyone equally.
Entertainment is a mix of in-house & professional, both were very good. We had a Magician & Escapologist, Flaminco Dancers, Acrobats from the Pro's & Mama Mia, The Lion King & Grease from the in-house.
The day time team were also very hard working with the usual offers of sports, games & pool activities.

In summary a very good hotel in a really good resort with a team of very hard working staff.
If you are looking for a great place to take your baby's & toddlers next year this is the place.

Room Tip: If you want a really quiet room away from the pools & bars ask for a room on the south side clos...

ignore all negative comments - Just returned from a wks stay at sol falco on an all inclusive basis me other half and little one -nearly 2 ( 1st time we have done all inc ) and I must say if all hotels were like this one then u would definatley be doin it again. The room were lovely and clean new towels everyday and clean linen the maids were brilliant always so friendly. ( only 1 minor issue was the beds were a little uncomfy) but it was nt a major issue.the all inclusive was amazin so much choice for every1 and I am a fussy eater!!! The food is lovely and fresh and once running low they always stick up with more. The waiters and waitresses cannot do enough for you always smiling and making an effort. The entertainment staff were fantastic do not no were they get the energy from!! The shws they put on at night are fab we actually thought they were professionals on the 1st couple of nights!! My little one loved it when Fred and dino came out dressed up . This is a family hotel, if you are coming with no children there are pools for adults only which seem peaceful as our room was situated near 1. I would not hesitate to come back here again and would definatley recommend to others. 10/10
