“Fantastic hotel”
Reviewed February 26, 2014

The hotel was a fantastic place to stay, the junior suite we had was second to none, the views from the balcony where excellent, the food was also fantastic with a different theme every evening in the restaurant, the hotel was a pleasure to stay in

Room Tip: Ask for a room that gets the sun all day

Just minutes away from the airport (€1,40 by local bus to get to hotel), and short walking distance to get to shopping areas including Eurospar. Hotel itself is a great place to relax, and not only golden sandy beach is just steps away, but you might just wish to stay at the pool area (2 of 3 pools are heated), where activities like waterpolo, or volleyball matches are organized daily (or depending on occupancy at the hotel). Junior Suite we stayed in was lovely, but a bit too dark (you do not really get much of a sun in right wing, try to get left one). When it comes to dining, you might also choose hotel's restaurants, which prices are very similar to the ones in the city, but are definitely better quality. Overall, enjoyable stay for reasonable value.

We did book a Junior Suite as we travelled with my boy 12 years and my boyfriens boy 16 and I was so happy the room was so big. We had a dressing room a big bathroom with a lovely Jacuzzi Bath and a separate toilet a big terrasse with Sea View.
The only issue was that we arrived at around 10h in the Hotel and we received our room at around 15h30. I think they should do an effort and make sure that the rooms are clean for people arriving early so that the people can have the rooms at least at around 13h.
We had half board and breakfast was very good a lot of variety even salmon and champagne.
The only negative was the Tennis Court and the Mini Golf they should try too look at it as it was not in a good state. No free Wifi in the rooms so we paid € 30.00 for a full week which is ok.
Stuff was really nice and friendly. The restaurant next to the pool was also very good.
The Spas is really nice and they have lots of treatments.
The location is not great there is a Casino next to the Hotel a Shopping Center with a big supermarket and a Mc Donald. The beaches are not like the South of Fuerteventura.

Room Tip: If you travel with kids I suggest you take a Junior Suite.

We stayed here for a week recently. The hotel is tastefully decorated, and looks onto the beach. Our room was a very good size, with a balcony (and table and chairs) and with a huge bathroom. The bed was so unbelievably comfortable, and the shower was perfect - with a huge waterfall shower head, and always plenty of hot water. We found the tea and coffee (for the perculator) provided was never enough, so we asked for a kettle which was swiftly provided, allowing us to buy our own tea and coffee and have as much as we wanted.
There is a supermarket and shopping centre a few minutes’ walk along the promenade (to the right of the hotel looking at the beach) which is very handy. If you go the other way, it is about a 10 minute walk to the town, and 20 minutes to the harbour.
We sat in the hotel for a couple of evenings to listen to the live entertainment on in the lobby / bar area. The waiter who served us a glass of wine each on our first night, gave us around 1/3 of a small wine measure that would be served in the UK. After getting the same again from this particular gentleman, we avoided asking him again for bar drinks, as it turns into a very very expensive drink for the measure.
A special mention should be given to Lucio (bar / waiter), who I believe just started with the hotel. He was so professional yet friendly and helpful - he really is a credit to the hotel and very customer focussed. He always made sure he said “hello, how are you?” even if we were just walking past where he was working. Also, the maid was always very nice, and kept the room spotless. The breakfast buffet was lovely, I can’t imagine that there would be anything you would want that they did not have!
As others have noted, although not the hotels fault, some children were allowed to run around in the evening (nearly knocking over the barman a couple of times when carrying a tray of drinks), inside and out through the revolving doors and back - again and again. They were even running up to the bar, jumping on the bar stools. As we didn't find this at all relaxing, we didn't stay in the hotel for evening entertainment for the remainder of the holiday, unfortunately. I don’t know how this can be solved, perhaps some sort of recreation centre for the children in the evening?
All in all this was a great stay in a lovely hotel with great customer service, and I would recommend. We found great entertainment on in Piero’s in the town, if like us, you are looking for alternative evening entertainment.

We have just returned from a half term week at this hotel. The food was excellent, the staff very friendly. My only criticism's would be that the pools are too cold and the maids start work far to early, ensuring you cannot sleep past 7am.

Room Tip: Go for the junior suites which have a huge balcony.

Firstly I would like to say that we did enjoy our stay at the Sheraton hotel so our comments should be kept in perspective. The hotel is only about 10 minutes drive from the airport which is a plus, but it is in the flight path, but this did not bother us too much. The hotel is ideally located if you wish to explore both the North and the South of the island. In addition to using taxis, coaches and a hire car for a couple of days, we found that by studying the bus timetable we could get a bus to all areas from Caleta. We are keen walkers and there are many wonderful walks on the island. The welcome was first class, but as you will read later, the service was not so good when we had a problem.

The room was excellently appointed, but it was cold. We are used to a centrally heated house, and the temperature in the hotel room was only 17 deg C. The first morning we asked if we could have some heating or change from a sunless north facing room to a south facing room, but despite offering to pay more, the man on the desk flatly refused. We had three blankets at night (which the maid removed some mornings) and had to wear a coat in the room. Subsequently we could not spend much time in the room. One guest told me that he used the hair dryer (1800 w) to warm up his room for his family. All the guests that I spoke to in the north facing wing were British. The floor of our room was tiled and there weren't any rugs or slippers to start with. When you arrive, you don't know what you should have in a room. We didn't have face flannels until after about a week one face flannel appeared, and after about 10 days, one pair of slippers appeared!

The hotel has a luxurious feel. We liked the decoration and the carpets in the corridors etc. We also liked the little touches such as a chocolate left on your pillow and an aperitif when you enter he dining room. However, we were disappointed when some days we didn't get one or other of these treats.

The majority of the guests seemed to be families with young children. This was particularly noticeable in the dinning room. Initially there was an adults only area in the dinning room (over 12 is classed as an adult) but there were always children in this area. The hotel has no control over the children, so you may find children chasing each other around the tables and one boy came into the dining room on his scooter every evening. Some guests were upset one evening when the dining room was very busy. Adults had to wait at the door whilst families with children were able to come straight in. A day or so later the adults area notices were removed and adults and children could sit anywhere. We made sure that we got into the dining room before the childrens' disco finished. The food is very good for a buffet style.

The gym is free and one of the best hotel gyms I have used. The spa was also excellent. We tried to go in the morning, but there were so many families with children using the facility that we were advised to come back after 2.30 pm. It was good advice and we enjoyed the many different rooms, heated pool, Jacuzzi and showers.

There was plenty of entertainment for children. I was a bit worried about the sound level as some of the children were very young and it was loud. There isn't anywhere that adults can go for a quiet drink. The piano bar is in the reception area with doors opening on both sides so it was a bit cold and drafty with children playing in the rotating doors. The entertainment in this ares was very good by hotel standards. One night we went to the Elba Carlota next door for a drink with friends, and that was cosier.

The staff were generally very helpful, but when our room key cards didn't work the man on the desk just shrugged his shoulders and no apology was given.

Would we go back? Yes if we had the grandchildren with us.

Room Tip: In the winter I recommend that you ask for a south facing room.

We checked into this hotel as our original hotel was seriously lacking in every respect!

We stayed three nights in a sea view double room which was lovely and clean with great views overlooking the pool, grounds and sea. The room had the biggest, most comfortable bed i have ever had the pleasure to sleep in. The staff were courteous, professional and hardworking.

We visited the Spa and ate in the a la carte restaurant which was very nice, the buffet breakfast selection was good, the food was hot and the room was comfortable and not too busy and noisy as many of the buffet restaurants can be!

The hotel is in a great location right opposite a lovely sandy beach which has lots of sun beds, man made coves to enable safe bathing and a lovely cafe/restaurant called La Isla which is set out to see somewhat with great views and great staff.

Overall a lovely hotel and an oasis of tranquility from our original booking at the Barcelo Fuerteventura!
