We stayed in this hotel for a week in November 2012 with our 19yr old son and his girlfriend. We had mixed feelings prior to arriving due to the varying reviews on here from good to bad. Our check in was quick and we went to our room which was on the 3rd floor. The room itself was clean but quite basic, however fine for a week. The worst part we're the beds. They have to be the worst beds I have ever slept on.......the sheets did not fit the mattress which incidentally hungover the bed base. My back was killing me by the end of the week due to the massive dip in the centre of the mattress. The walls in the room are paper thin........on one side we had to endure the couple making 'certain noises' and the other side had a man permanently coughing his guts up!!
The roof top terrace could be improved.......it was always busy with couples wanting peace and quiet from the screaming kids around the main pool below however if you wanted a drink which was quite often as it was very hot you had to go down in the lift and across to the pool bar to get them and bring them up. I don't see what the problem is to have the pumps working up on the terrace even in November.
The entertainment team.......I will keep it brief as could go on and on.......yes they work hard but please we weren't at pontins!! It was pure chavtastic entertainment and 'Captain Craig' certainly loved himself!! My husband and I were cringing at times listening to it, it was absolute dire. In an evening there was only the main entertainment room/bar to sit in to take advantage of the all inclusive drinks so had to endure the noise that came from the stage - unless of course you wanted to sit outside by the pool and be choked to death by cigarette smoke!!!
The food was very poor - by the fourth day I was sick to the back teeth of pork!!! I have never been to a hotel with food as bad as that. Nothing was ever hot it was always lukewarm, there was chips with everything and not much variety in my opinion. We ate out a couple of times as couldn't face another venture in to that restaurant!! I wouldn't say that the hotel gives good value for money at all, considering we had paid £460 each for the week I would rather have paid an extra £100 and gone back to the 5* hotel in Tenerife we have been spoilt with!! I would say the Costa Caleta isn't worth half of what we paid. If you are considering this hotel.....don't.....spend your hard earned cash on something else!!

We have just returned from two weeks the Costa Caleta and had an excellent holiday. Right from the reception staff especially Vanessa who always had a smile, to the room cleaners everyone was more than helpful. We asked for a quiet sea view room with a double bed, which is what we got, the rooms are large enough and the standard of cleaning (5 days) was very good. The bar and waiting staff all worked very hard and always had a smile even when dealing with some difficult holiday makers. They were not tight with the drinks and you never had to wait long to get served. The food was always hot or cold and plenty of it, if you like fish every day a fresh type was on, Sea bass, tuna, hake, cod, mussels, clams, calamari, sardines etc., plus a selection of hot and cold meats and plenty of salads and puds, and a large selection of fresh fruit. Your really could not complain, the staff were clean, efficient and always ready to help with any request. The clientele were from all over including quite a few French, who also agreed that the food was very good. The wines were good, red, white, rose and sangria and beer on tap as much as you wanted along with standard fizzy and still drinks.

Room Tip: Sea view, high rooms.

Just recently got back from a weeks stay at this Hotel, although pleasant enough there were a few areas that need to be improved!!
1:The management clearly state that holiday makers should not put towels out onto the Sunbeds, this is completely ignored by all the holiday makers, Not once on our stay did we manage to get a sunbed by the pool!!!
2: Beds were very uncomfortable, they need to be improved.
3: Some of the staff were at most very miserable.
4: Food, although Okay, tea times were very samey!! and honestly who serves chips, green beans and brocolli at breakfast time??????
All this said it was a pleasant stay, management do thee best but they need to look at cheering the staff up a little bit, not sure we would go back there though!!

Just got back 20th feb after 1 week all inc with wife & 3 kids.
weather was great,a few cloudy mornings then sunshine untill evening.Nightime is quite chilly,a cardy or sweater is a must.
The area is great just 200yds to beach & the town, nice walk from the hotel along the promenade to the harbour takes about 10mins.
Caleta has loads of bars/restaurants i found on average a pint strongbow 3-4 euros.
Now the hotel,we payed £1800 for 5 people all inc.you do not expect too much for this price, and this hotel is clearly in this category.
Rooms are fine and clean.we changed our allocated room on arrival for one with better view of pool,(reception staff a bit reluctant at first but finally agreed to swap us).
Hotel is quite clean & tidy throughout, grounds and pools are ok.The main pool is freezing we only went in it a few times on the hotter days, does seem a waste of space, big pool and no one goes in it because it is too cold. The warm pool is a quarter of the size of the main pool and is usually packed out. There is a life guard, great bloke from cadiz.
Drinks on all inclusive are very lame.no strongbow as previously mentioned, just watered down salty tasting beer, spirits werent much better, cocktails similar,we ended up on the wine.
soft drinks are aweful we found the lemonade just about drinkable.the hot drinks are fine though and easily accessible day & night.
We thought the food was fine, breakfast fine, lunch fine, evening meal no quibbles for a family of 5 including kids we had no qualms all of us liked the different foods available.
The snacks in between meals are very limited/poor at best.
The entertainment team were greatfun but not very talented, the rooms they have for the shows are very cramped, with little seating or table space.(quite clostraphobic).
The evening main bar is very poor get ready to que for your drinks only 2 per customer at one time.We all got quite bored after 1 hour or so at night,Found ourselves walking around the town at night to relieve the boredom.
All in all, an ok value holiday.Glad the weather was fine.I imagine it Could be a terrible hotel if the sun doesnt shine.

Room Tip: room 2082 looks onto pool.gets sunshine in morning and late afternoon.

First the bad points: the main pool is cold, the diet coke is nasty and the salt in the restaurant is damp!
OK, now for the good stuff. From our arrival until we left, the staff in all areas were unfailingly helpful and charming. The whole place is beautifully clean, fresh towels every day the rooms were cleaned (every day but Sunday and Thursday). The food is varied and of very good quality - look out for some very imagninative salads! If you can't find something to eat, you are terminally fussy!
Good quality coffee, soft drinks, sangria and lager (Amstel) available at the pool self-service from 10.00 am - bar is also open for anything else you may want.
The entertainment team work very hard and you can join in or not as you prefer.
The position of the hotel is brilliant, with easy access to the sea-front promenade where you can walk to Costa Antigua in one direction (feeding cucumber to the chipmunks en-route!) or to the Atlantico shopping centre via the harbour and beach the other way.
For a day out, Oasis Park is fantastic and good value if booked through Lastminutetravel in the main commercial centre (36 euros for 2 including travel).
The rooms are a decent size, plenty of lights, power sockets etc. Good wardrobe space, with plenty of hangers.
We had a great, relaxing, fun 2 weeks and would happily go back

My review is based on having paid approx. £1450 for 4 adults in 2 rooms (interconnecting) for one week all inclusive. The hotel is clean and the staff are friendly, our rooms were 2075 & 2077 on 2nd floor facing the back of the building, so no view to speak of but that wasn't a problem. The rooms were an average size with 2 single beds and a sofa bed in each room. The bathroom had a decent shower & hairdryer. There were tv's in our rooms but you had to pay by the day or week to watch them approx. €2.40 per day, we chose not to and so this wasn't an issue for us. There are safety deposit boxes in the rooms, which you pay for by the week. The beds were ok but not great and as others have said the sheets were too small and bunched up under you everytime you moved, that said, we all slept fine.
The food was again ok, only issue was that the selection was more or less the same every lunch & dinner, so became tedious, but for what was there we didn't go hungry. We didn't have any snacks between main meals so can't comment on them. The restaurant staff were friendly & quick to remove empty plates.
Drinks that we had were also ok, lemonade, cola & beer. Probably more like soda stream drinks than pepsi etc. but absolutely fine. No bottled water but we refilled our empty bottles with water from the bar/restaurant.
The main seating areas were probably smaller than expected but we had no problem getting a seat & table in the evening. We didn't watch any of the shows but as the entertainment area is an annex off the bar we heard what was on offer, which wasn't our cup of tea but at least there was something going on.
We sunbathed on the roof terrace, which meant we had space around our loungers. We opted for the terrace as the pool area looked too crowded with loungers very close together. The terrace pool & bar were not open but the signs clearly state they are open March to October, again not a problem for us.
The beach is a five minute walk away and was lovely. The resort itself is quite small but perfect as only 10 mins from the airport.
Overall we felt that this hotel was great value for the money we paid, we weren't expecting 5* we expected 3* and that's what we got. For one week winter sun it was absolutely fine.
