We booked our stay at this hotel at the last minute through Thomson, as a 'run to the sun' to escape the dismal weather in the UK and we certainly did that, with temperatures being around 20 - 24 degrees during our stay. We booked half board, though all inclusive was offered through First Choice too, and looking back now, unless you are going to stay in the hotel the whole time, half board would appear to be the better deal. The hotel is immediately adjacent to the beach and promenade in the resort of Caleta de Fuste, which is smaller and seemed to have a more relaxing atmosphere than places like Jandia and Corallejo, which we visited, and is centrally located, which makes it a perfect base for exploring the island. We booked a hire car prior to travelling, which we picked up from Hertz just around the corner from the hotel and had a great time exploring the island during the daytime. The roads are easy to drive and there is plenty of free parking all over the island, including around the hotel. There is a small supermarket and a selection of shops, bars and restaurants a short walk away from the hotel, in fact our room in Block 1 was adjacent to the local Irish bar, but this didn't prove to be a problem for us - no sleepless nights or any other issues! Our standard room was spacious, clean and well maintained throughout our stay. Previous reviewers have mentioned there are no tea making facilities in the rooms, but if this is important to you, simply pack a travel kettle and any provisions you need, as the rooms have a small fridge for milk, and both this and bottled water are available from the nearby supermarket. We found the beds comfortable and while we didn't really need the duvets provided, I'm sure we would have appreciated them if the weather had been a little cooler. The public areas of the hotel and gardens were also clean and well maintained and there was plenty to do during the day if you wanted this, including facilities for things such as football and table tennis arranged by the busy animation team, as well as the pool. One of the hotel's pools was undergoing renovation while we were there, but this did not seem to cause any major issues, as the large available pool was heated and there appeared to be plenty of sunbeds available most of the time. Dining was buffet style and we found we had plenty of choice at both breakfast and dinner, and thought the quality of the food offered was good considering the scale of the catering. A bottle of wine at dinner started from 9.50 Euros and was also available by the glass. We found all of the staff we encountered to be friendly and helpful and many of them spoke very good English - most of the clientele at the time we visited were from the UK. With a standard room, you will be asked for a deposit of 10 Euro for hotel pool towels, and be charged 2 Euro each time you change them, which isn't outrageous, but still an extra charge to consider and similarly wifi is extra in the hotel, though many of the local bars offer this for free. Overall this hotel proved to be an ideal base for a relaxing week and we would definitely stay here again if visiting Fuerteventura again.

Room Tip: Be aware that some rooms in Block 3 are adjacent to local bars.

We have just stayed here for 1 week on half board basis (via Thomsons) and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We booked a superior room on the 3rd floor which had nice views over one of the pools, the beach and the hills in the distance. room was large and very comfortable and well cleaned daily. One of the two pools is heated to a comfortable temperature and the other is much cooler- the latter was emptied for maintenance 1/2 way through our stay but we preferred the other anyway. Breakfast and supper were both buffet style will a massive choice of food for all tastes. I notice one review said the sap wasnt included in the price - with our superior room the spa POOLS and sauna were included but treatments were extra, we used the spa twice and found it excellent. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby and the beach is right outside the hotel grounds. If you wish to go further afield the main taxi rank and bus stop are only a few minutes walk. The evening entertainment was varied and most was of a good standard. The bar prices are also reasonable - if we had gone all inclusive i think it would have worked out much more over the week.
airport transfer is easy, it's only about 15 minutes / 3 miles away and the flight path is nearby (great if you like plane spotting - I got some nice airplane photos!) - about 800m to the west (right over the western part of the town) but modern jets don't make much noise and even though they are quite low it didnt worry us and there didnt seem to be hardly any in the evenings.
Overall , a good hotel and we will probably go again next February ( aweek or so later than this time) as we found it was just what we wanted and where we wanted to be

Room Tip: we were on the 3rd floor in block 3 - the superior rooms, excellent rooms and view but further from...

Just got back from the Barcelo last Saturday after spending a week there (25th Jan – 01st Feb), with my Mum and Gran, and I will defiantly be returning.

We arrived quite late on the Saturday (8pm), so got into our room immediately after check in; I admit it’s a little slow, but the reception staff were friendly and explained everything, then our cases were taken upstairs for us by the friendly luggage concierge.

I emailed the hotel soon after booking, asking for a room in block 2; I was travelling with my 78 year old Gran and it was too much of a walk for her to get to block 3 and the hotel was happy to oblige. When we got to our room (2308) we were pleasantly surprised; not only with the size of the room, but with how comfy the beds were. I had the sofa bed, but even that was alright. The bathroom is separate from the large sink area, which I think was great. With three women of three different generations, it was really handy being able to use the shower, whilst the others could be getting ready in the vanity area. The quality of the bathroom was fab too, with two different showers, one a normal power shower and one large rain shower higher up.

The view from our room was awesome; overlooking the pool area, and the beach; which was massive and very clean. Although the wind was really strong during our week, sitting on our balcony was perfect, as it was sheltered from the wind but got the sun shining on it all day.

The hotel is amazingly maintained by the staff; there is always someone cleaning or gardening, so everywhere is immaculate! The grounds around the hotel are fantastic too, there are lots of grassy areas and palm trees, which make the pool area look really beautiful. The rooms are cleaned to a great standard too; often by the time we returned from breakfast the cleaner had already been to our room.

It’s easy to be disappointed by all inclusive food, but the food was great! There was so much choice at the Barcelo; ranging from Salads, Pastas, Pizza and Meat, that there was always something to eat. The selection of AI drinks was extensive too; you could even get international brands like Smirnoff and J&B, which I have never come across at an AI hotel before, so I was really happy! Working my way through the cocktail menu was a delight too!

I read some reviews before I booked the hotel which said some of the staff were rude, and that the entertainment was disappointing, but this was certainly not my experience. All the staff were lovely, friendly and very helpful, especially in the restaurant and at the bar; even remembering our drinks orders. As for the evening entertainment it was exactly that, entertaining! I loved it! If you don’t go expecting a West End style show, you won’t be disappointed.
The entertainment team worked tirelessly to put on a good show for everyone; and yes they mimed but to give them credit they mimed so well! We had Les Miserables as our ‘big show’ and it was really good! I’ll admit the ‘Celtic experience’ the previous night was hilarious, but the guys on stage looked like they were having a right old laugh too which made the show better. Victor and Roman especially looked like they were enjoying themselves!

It was pretty unfortunate that my gran managed to fall over at the 3rd hole in mini golf, but the hotel staff were really helpful. The lifeguard attended to her, and the reception staff let us use a wheelchair for the remainder of our holiday which was really kind of them!

Just a small niggle was the lack of tea making facilities in the room. It didn't bother me because I can’t stand tea or coffee but my Mum and Gran were a bit perturbed, especially as it was a €1 a day to rent a cup from the hotel! But to be honest this wasn't really a big issue! Just bring your own kettle, and you can get a cheap mug from the China Shop in town which is what we did!

All in all, we thought the Barcelo was fantastic! I would definitely return, and am looking forward to coming back very soon! Fingers crossed!

Allthough not the cheepest hotel in Fuertura ventora we found that the food was good and the nightly shows where good it was hard to get a seat . The hotel letts anyone in from appartments
and other hotels whom dont even purchase drinks ect but take up all the seating giving the patrons at this hotel no chance. A big mistake on there part,
We thought the SPA was a part of the all/inc package but we had to pay 18 euros per person.
This was not mensioned in the broshure. Apart from that the hotel was fine and we would return.

Room Tip: seaview roomwas good

We recently stayed at the Barcelo Fuertaventura for a weeks respite from the wet, windy and miserable winter we are having here in England.
What a great place to stay! The first room we had was on the third floor with views across to the sea but we didnt get the afternoon sun. My partner, Mike, spoke with reception the second day were there and they were more than happy to move us to a south facing room so we could enjoy the afternoon sun on our terrace (this room was on the ground floor). This room was a little scruffy but the enjoyment of the warmth and sun more than made up for that. The beds in both rooms were very comfortable and HUGE. We certainly had some very good nights sleep as the hotel didnt seem to be noisy at night.
We stayed half board although we were offered the option to upgrade to all inclusive. This meant we made the effort to go out in the evenings to the various bars in the resort where the entertainment was generally very good.
The hotel entertainment was OK apart from the Saturday night when the hotel entertainment staff do a show. This was so bad we laughed all the way through!! All it was was miming. . . .badly. .. . to show songs. Apart from that we had Il Quatro (a take off of Il Divo) who were very good, and various other outside acts. This all finished at 10:30 so there was still time to go out and find other entertainment if you wanted.
My partner was very happy with the food but, as a vegetarian, I didnt find that much variety. It gets a little boring having salads, pizza or lentil hotpot every night! However, I will say that the presentation was good, the food was hot and they did a nice choice of cheeses and deserts.
All the staff were friendly and helpful. My only real criticism was the check in time. It took AGES. Just two members of staff for a whole coach load of people. Not good after a mid haul flight.
The pool area was wonderful but both pools were cold. One was supposed to heated but if it was then the night winds and chilly air certainly cooled it back down.
We would return here if we go back to Fuertaventura.

Room Tip: Try to make sure you get a room facing the afternoon sun. If you ask at reception they will try to a...

I can recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to do their own thing or join in the organised events. Very clean spacious rooms. Friendly and efficient staff, entertainment every evening. Good food with plenty of choice. Good location on the beach. If you like the night-life though it's not too busy roundabout.
