“Great Holiday”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

Lovely clean hotel. Spacious room with very comfortable beds. Bar staff great. All staff very friendly and welcoming. Animation team fab...their shows in the evenings are great. Lovely food.
We walked the 10 mins to the further beach as the sea bed was pure sand. Beautiful water and not at all busy, although get there before 11 for sunbeds and parasols.

Bad points....air con wasn't the best
Not enough umbrellas at poolside. We had to get up at 6 to reserve!!

Plus....we took a walk to the nearby harbour expecting lots of shops etc. Went in the evening and there is absolutely nothing there, apart from a couple of food places.

Lots of teenagers with families and would benefit from more activities for them....maybe a teen disco....away from little ones. You would find teens sat in lobby as thats where the wifi was at its best!

Room Tip: We stayed near the Irish bar on the ground floor. We had no problems but didn't have a great vie...

Visited the hotel for a week with my friend. Lovely hotel, stayed all inclusive. There is a snack bar were you can help yourself to food and drink. Staff are really friendly and food was nice buffet style, there is always something you can eat, salad, grilled fish and meat, pasta, pizza and rice.

Pool areas was nice but you have to get to the pool around 8am to get sun beds together, however you could probably get one on your own. Easier to get sun beds in the sun rather than shade.

Area around hotel is quiet but but a few nice bars and they are literally a couple of minutes away.

Would definitely visit again.

This is my 3 stay in this hotel, just had to go back again after my second trip i really wasnt happy, see my prevous review.

We took a taxi to the hotel at a cost of 12 euro's well worth the money as u can check in before the coach arrives, we filled in all the passport info while in the taxi that made check in within 10 minutes. Our cases were taken too our rooms.

The rooms were very clean, smelt very fresh, the mini bar fridge u do get 2 free bottles of water. U can use it for your own drinks, whether u buy them from the local super market or u ask at the snack bar for 2 bottles of water, they will give u them opened of course. Or if u have your own plastic bottles, u can fill them up at the snack bar.

All areas of this hotel were spotless, cleaning is done daily, even the pool is cleaned out and all rubbish if any is removed, i watched this happen every day as i was up at 7am.

Oh the old chestnut of sunbeds, its mainly the english doing this!!!! But be warned towles will get removed and stacked up at the side leaving the sun bed free for others too use. This is a good thing as i did noticed some sad people (a large family party) at 12 midnight, reserving there beds!!! for the next day. Didnt help matters, that they didnt go to there sunbeds until the afternoon. But as soon as the manager and his gang came along, it surprising how many people came running like little ants. Just so you no, u can remove the towels from the beds if you want to use the beds as long as there towels are nearly folded and left in a pile.

The food: breakfast so much to choose from, hot to cold, all differant types of bread, everything and more.

Lunch time u have too be covered up to go in the main resturant or u can eat on the buffet in the snack bar thats look after and allways filled up, again hot and cold food

Dinner time, men must where long trousers, cargos, jeans or formal, along with shoes or pumps, no trainers. A couple of times the men were allowed to wear shorts due too the really hot weather. The ladys, well as long as u have a nice top on, its ok to wear shorts how ever short. My lot went back too the room too change into shorts after dinner. Again at dinner so much choice, always a roasted joint of meat, fresh fish, grilled meat, pizza, pasta at the far end, at the sides, loads of other dishes, along with veggies, salads, cold meats, fish, prawns, soups hot and cold, cheese and biscuits, loads of puddings, ice creams......no one will ever go hungary. We always found a table and there were 5 of us.

The swimming pool, yes there are tiles missing, but it means closeing down the large pool to repair them,so its being repaired in low season. Rubber rings, bats and balls, beach balls are allowed in the pool, so the whole family joins in. It is busy, but there is still loads of room in the pools.

I travels on the 10/8/13, it was very hot, even factor 50 wasnt working, so make sure u have the right factor or even higher as my 10 year old got badly burnt with very large blister, i wouldnt want anybody elses child going through, what he did.BUT lucky for us the local chemist right outside the hotel gave us some cream, all i can say, it healed it up within 24 hours, its amazing stuff. Pop in a get some factor 50 in chemist, its stronger than uk based ones, i went throught 3 cans of the stuff on all 5 of us and we still came back dark brown!

If you pop out to get a paper from the paper shop, little small shop in the middle, make sure u get the right change, they will diddle u out of money big time and u dont have a leg to stand on.

If u cross the zebra crossing and walk up the road there is a larger supermarket, cheaper than the one near the hotel, if u walk passed the shop and go around the corner, u will find cheap ciggy shops, theres 2 main ones.

We stayed in a superior room, good views etc, nicely decorated, free wifi but only one ipad or photo at a time can be used and only one code per room. Wifi is charged at 25 euros a week in all other rooms.

Beach towels are charge at 10 euro and 2 euro per towel change.

In the evening at the snack bar if u tip the waiter, as soon as ur glasses are empty he will get them refilled for u. I only tip anything from a euro to 2 euros.

If u go out the back onto the beach front and walk towards the daily trip areas, there is a floating shop, where u can buy gifts BUT also u can feed the large fish, as they sell a small bag of fish food for Euro, its free too sit with ur feet in the water and play with the fish, we spent over an hour there.

Right if u want to buy jewlery, dont forget too haggle with them, i done with the shop by the chemist, rather posh inside, but i walk out with an 18k solid white gold ring, along with another 4 items, total cost was 2,100 euros, but i haggled him down too 654 euros for the whole lot. So its really worth ur time and effort, to steel a deal.

Overall this holiday was fantastic, well worth every penny in my eyes.

Just stayed at this hotel 10-17 aug. My first and last experience of travelling in aug ! Good points, we paid for a sea view room which was well worth the money. The beds and pillows were so comfy, slept well every night. Lovely room and the shower was brilliant. Food was good too, although it was hectic in there and quite warm. We only went half board as all inclusive was a lot more and we are not big drinkers. Nice little supermarket 5 mins stroll up the road and the rooms have fridges. Saved a lot of money this way. Kettles in the room to which my mum loved.
On the down side if you want a day by the pool and you want a sunbed with shade you need to set your alarm. I'd say only half of the sun beds have shade which if ur travelling in August with kids is crap. The pools are nice but a bit rough around the edges. Hurts your feet to walk on.
Hotel entertainment in the evening is so bad it's funny. Actually cried laughing at times.
The resort is ten mins from the airport which is fab if u have kids that hate hot coaches, small amount of plane noise but never bothered us at all.
Some ppl we spoke to were in rooms by the Irish bar in block one and said these rooms were noisy. We were block2 tho and couldn't hear it at all.
We did have a lovely time in fuertevntura. Go to the floating pontoon shop and feed the fish it's fab.
We always holiday may and oct and this is the first time we had to do Aug or not have a holiday this year due to other gcses etc.
It's a nice hotel, but the pool let's it down which is a shame. It's just not big enough when the hotel is full. Out of season I'm sure it's great. Defo go back to Fuertventura but just not to this hotel

Room Tip: Block 2 or 3

Stayed for two weeks with husband, daughter and my parents who have never done a beach holiday. A fantastic time was had by all. The rooms were lovely albeit a little tired but I've been in 4 star hotels in the UK in worse condition. The beds were really comfortable which is high praise from me who never sleeps well away from my own bed but after a couple of nights slept well. The food was brilliant - there was an excellent choice at every meal and if you can't find something then you are an extremely fussy eater & should only consider self catering holidays in the future! Pool and beach were fab - if you take some bread to the beach you can feed the fish. There are hundreds. The entertainment team work hard & as long as you don't expect West End productions the evening entertainment is worth going to. Finally the staff are friendly and appreciate any Spanish you try. We will definitely be back and even my parents have said they would go again.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Barcelo Fuerteventura, and feel compelled to write a review. This was our first experience of all in, normally we hire a villa, rent a car and book our flights separately. Our children are aged 8 and 5 and this hotel was impressive. The room was air conditioned, we asked for a 2nd room key that meant we could keep the air con on whilst out of the room. it was very spacious, the main bed was enormous with temper mattress topper, so comfortable. The hotel was spotless, the staff were attentive, polite and the entertainment staff were fantastic! Our children didn't use the kids clubs, but were encouraged to join in the dancing and playing around the pool and in the evening. Getting a sun bed does involve setting your alarm, but it was an incredibly small price to pay for the peace of mind of guaranteeing a bed all day long! The food was ideal, plenty of variety which initially was a reservation of ours, but we were not disappointed. Considering the number of guests catered for in this hotel , at no time did it feel over crowded or unable to cater for everyone. (Eat in the outside areas of the main dining room, you avoid the bustle of the main restaurant.) Will definitely return, well done Barcelo)

We travelled as a family group which comprised of grandparents, mums and grandchildren. We stayed here for one week beginning of August. The hotel staff were very friendly on our arrival and all staff remained so throughout our stay. The hotel was very clean, including bedrooms. Our bed rooms were very quite as we stayed in block 3, which was away from the main entertainment and quite at night. Hotel bars and restaurants had lots of choices and lots of hot fresh food. Some of our party are plain food eaters, so it was good that there was something for everyone. Pool area kept very clean and sufficient loungers for all. Overall a great holiday at this Barcelo!,

Room Tip: Try booking early if you want family rooms.
