“Apartments Ok, but not a true 3 bedroom”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2013

We booked a 3 bedroom ocean front apartment. The apartments are well positioned on Broadbeach, a short stroll to Oasis Plaza and Kurawa Surf Club. I have to agree with a previous reviewer, I would not call them Luxury, more standard. The 3 bedroom we booked was not a true 3 bedroom, more like 2 bedroom with study. The 3rd bedroom faces directly onto the main living room with sliding timber slat doors, it is not a fully enclosed private room. The light and noise from the living room comes directly into the 3rd room, no privacy! There is also no wardrobe in that room. The other 2 are OK, fully enclosed rooms with a door. The facility has a small pool and gym, it's a smaller complex, not a high rise. The room was basically fitted, the lounge suite was made of hard cane, leaving marks on your arms, and the cushions were stained, we put a blanket over them before we would sit on it. The main bathroom has a shower in bath, it's a bit of a step up, if your elderly you might have trouble with the step. The main bedroom has a walk in shower. If we had of known the 3rd room layout we would have looked elsewhere.

We appreciate your feed back. The bedroom configuration of the 3 bedroom Ocean-side apartments varies from apartment to apartment. Some are fitted with built in robes and others with a chest of draws. Some do have sliding timber slat doors and others are fully enclosed. We do apologize your booking was allocated accordingly. The lounge suite in this particular apartment is only around 12 months old and is a modern cane design. All cushion covers have now been laundered. We do apologize for not meeting your expectations. Thank you for your feed back. Regards Tony.

Stayed here with 6 other mates for my bucks in April. Weather was still warm enough to enjoy the beach which is a 2minute walk across the road, behind the thick row of shrubs and plants. Internal pool and bbq area were a little cramped. You have to tippy toe past along one edge of the pool to get to Block D where we were, but otherwise private and clean. A small gym was available too but the gear was quite outdated. Parking was tight and a little tricky to find but no real complaints. Our 3 bed apartment was clean and modern enough, with the main and ensuite very large. Only 5 minute drive from Jupiters so location was generally excellent. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend for families and a group of friends for a short stay. After hours entry was a little tricky to work out with the keys placed in a safe but we found it eventually.

Room Tip: Get one higher up facing the ocean!

Just a short note to say how much we enjoyed staying at La Grande and especially for the courtesy for letting us in to the apartment early on the day of our arrival having flown overnight from Perth; allowing us a late check out on the day of departure, letting us keep our bags on the premises until we went to the airport and letting us use the spa room to get changed for the flight home.

As I’m sure you are aware traveling with 3 year old twins can be challenging at the best of times and you guys made it much easier for us. Thank you very much indeed.

We really enjoyed staying at La Grande, the location and facilities were great and just what we wanted.

Sincerely

Peter Boothman

Dont want this to sound like a winge as these a nice big apartments in a fantastic location, across the road from the beach & a short walk from Broadbeach central, however when the word luxury is used its means that. However our apartment whilst clean and tidy was dated in decor and we dissapointed by chipped & dripping tapware, yellowed tiles etc, the apartment could do with an update. Certainly the master bed was so old & hard we both came away with back problems. Value for money...yes, Luxury...no.

We stayed at the belair last year and lived by the pool, however at the La Grande although the pool is claimed to be heated to 27 degrees, it was freezing, and the sea which was 23 degrees was surprisingly warmer. The hot spa was luke warm at best and kept this way as its in a room in the carpark and causes a condensation problem, so we found this dissapointing.

Due to a new highrise next door the pool area gets little sun is unwelcoming, hence it was empty for most of our stay.

Room Tip: Only block C beach front have views, the balance look at other properties.

Thank you for your valued feedback. Please rest assured that we have begun to rectify the concerns raised within the apartment. Bedding has been addressed along with replacement Tap ware. The pool temperature is always maintained at 27 degrees. This is thermostatically controlled and manually tested daily. The Spa is also monitored the same way and is maintained at 30-33 degrees. We do apologize if water temperatures did not meet expectation. Once again we appreciate your feedback. Regards Tony.

My wife and I are fully retired at 70+ years , and have stayed at La Grande for last 3 years and in same 3 bedroom ocean view middle apartment , so that our family can join us on the week-end . We are very flexible with dates to fit in with any management bookings for this apartment. In 2013 we are hopeful that as we live in Brisbane that we will be having 4 holidays at least this year . As regular returnees the complimentary restaurant voucher is appreciated . Mr and Mrs Burns as managers are faultless in service , cleanliness , friendleness , and we cannot fault this fully self contained 3 bedroom ocean view apartment at all , and looking forward to many more holidays at La Grande Broadbeach----- right on Broadbeach lovely golden sands , and entire complex is totally smoke free .

Room Tip: Ocean view is definetly the pick . No view blockage to ocean or to north or south . Fully self conta...

This is the second time we've stayed here, the view is sensational, and the location is about as close to Broadbeach as you'd want to get (and as far away from Surfers)

We have stayed in the beachfront, 2 bedder/1 study, so that's all I can comment on. The rooms are huge, there's plenty of space to move around, and the kitchen is also big enough for entertaining purposes.

Bathrooms and ensuite are plenty big enough.

Big benefit is that the whole venue is smoke free, and signs posted everywhere to that effect. That didn't stop our neighbours from trying to sneak a smoke on the balcony, but a quick call to reception and it was the last time they tried it.

Only strange thing is that the side windows are bolted shut - doesn't make sense as the back window fully opens .... plus of course the balcony. Would have been nice to get a bit more natural air in the main bathroom.

Oh, one more thing. Providing Foxtel is a nice touch, but if we're paying close to $300 a night, owners, please shell out an extra few bucks for a decent package.

Having said that, it's really a hard place to beat, we'll be back again.

Room Tip: Most of the supplies are good, but word of warning. The stove tops are ceramic, and frying pan is w...

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment with office on the 5th floor overlooking the ocean. With two children we found the space of this apartment fantastic, it was easily as big as a small house. Apartments are privately owned so they do vary. I asked for pictures of ours before we confimed our booking and staff/owners were very helpful in providing this which we apreciated. Intial supplies were pretty poor, no salt & pepper, limited toilet paper etc. Pool area is really nice, with tables, loungers and BBQ, our kids 10 & 4 thoughly enjoyed their time swimming. There is no shallow area though for little kids and/or babies. The location is great, nice & quiet with only a minutes walk across the road to the beach, cool playgrounds for kids just a few min's walk down the road. A short walk to Oasis shopping centre and not too far to Pacific Fair (If you are traveling to or from Brisbane "Harbour Town" has the best outlet shopping hands down!) Excellent hospitality, hosts are very friendly and happy to help with bookings etc Overall we had a really good time and would happily recommend to other travelers

Room Tip: Ask for pictures of the room on offer, that way you know what your getting.
