My BF had booked a table here as a surprise for Valentines Day. We were stuck in traffic (in surfers paradise) but called to advise we were running 10 mins late. When we arrived we were not shown to a table, instead we were shown to bench that was on the edge of the chefs cooking station. It was very disappointing as we had pre-booked and this was a special occasion. With the Chefs in front of us, the service area to our left and the cash register to our backs, this was a high traffic area and not a romantic spot what so ever! We asked to be seated elsewhere, we were able to sit at another bench, (although there was another table free the whole time we had our eye on!) I said to the waitress we had booked a table and that we had called to advise we were running late, I asked if our table was given away and she said 'no' but I think it was, why on earth would you seat a couple fr Valentines Day at a bench!?
Despite the poor seating to start off with we really did enjoy our evening. The costing is quite expensive if you are wanting to get a decent serve of food and alcohol so this is not everyday dining.
Our waiter was very lovely and he did well explaining the menu. We had the Charcuterie assorted platter to start, this was incredible and the ill feelings we had for the first 5 minutes of the night had gone out the window. We were drinking a Spanish Rose which was delicious, (cheapest glass at $9).
We then had the half chicken, the homemade sausage with white beans and the green beans side. All very yummy and satisfying. Despite the weird dining set up, the food and service is pretty good.

The experience was soured by a waiter who thought he was a lot better than he was. On arrival I enquired if they had beer on tap to be told straight out "no.", no "sorry we dont but we do have a good selection of bottled beer", just a straight no.

He then told us we were ordering too much and had us modify our order rather then explaining to us how thier system of "tapas style" food works.

The food we got was lovely, especially the lamb but again it was soured by getting the wrong side for the dish.

About $100 a head I thought was pretty reasonable with a few bottled beers/ champagnes and a couple of bottles of wine between 4 of us.

Social is the new sister restaurant to award winning RockSalt in Broadbeach, both run by Matt and Amy Jefferson. The atmosphere and staff, make Social, as much as the food does. The tapas is wonderful and the larger sharing plates, delicious, especially the lamb, melts in your mouth. The mushrooms, trout, specials with figs, just all superb. Adam our waiter was a great guy and really made you feel looked after. This is a definite eatery to go to. I have no doubt it will be creeping up the highest ratings very soon

Enjoyed a great supper at Social with a couple of friends. It was the first time to try this newly opened 'eating house', and we were all very pleasantly surprised.

The decor is modern, and seating varies between small table sets, and elevated long tables and/or bar seating. Their menu is quite varied and exciting in its difference to the general run-of-the-mill tapas. In truth, they are more than a tapas bar, offering small and large plates. Their concept is that all dishes are for sharing, and putting together a 'normal' dinner of entree and main is quite easy. That way, you don't have to keep buying many plates to enjoy a decent meal. Their wine list is quite extensive, with both glasses and bottles available. Special plates of the day are written up on the wall blackboard, and reflect the seasonality of produce.

Their maitre'd (Italian) was extremely helpful in explaining their menu and concept, and recommending the best way to put it together for us, so that we didn't overfill on 'small' plates, and also varied the selections to complement the whole dinner. His wine recommendation of a Montepulciano was enjoyed too. Their 'large' plates are more than a full meal for one, and our pick of a 1kg boneless salt-brush lamb, slowed cooked for 8-10 hrs more than fed the four of us. At $75 for this dish, it was excellent value, and certainly melted in the mouth.

Service was very attentive, and kept to the pace of our eating. Our wine glasses were monitored to see that no-one was empty for long. I note some other reviews of poor service, but for my party, we were more than satisfied. It was mid-week, and the restaurant was about half-full.

Overall, with a couple of bottles of wine, four small and one large plate, with sides, our bill was $300+, which we though was very fair. Will certainly visit again soon. Strongly recommended.

Went with friends for lunch and the restaurant wasn't busy so we thought we would get served quickly as we were starving.
We ordered an entree of bread and then 2 plates to share and a couple of drinks. Our total bill was $57 which was very well overpriced for a bit of bread, 3 tasting pieces on one dish and a small bowl of mushrooms on the other.
The entree didn't come out first and came together with the 1st tasting dish. Then they forgot about the mushrooms. When we asked for the mushrooms, they went to cook them. They were quite nice once we got them but then had no bread or anything to eat them with. The waiter brought out a bit of extra bread to soak up the oil but we had already eaten half the small bowl of mushrooms.... very disappointing...
Staff seemed nice but it was overpriced and had poor customer service.
Limited menu choice for a tapas bar.... Tapas bar should have more variety with better pricing and they should really have a mixed tasting plate to share with friends....
