“Recommended! Very Melbourne-esque”
Reviewed February 3, 2013 via mobile

We had lunch here, didn't get the special because it was limited choice, but the truffle pasta was delicious as was the deconstructed lemon meringue. My husband had oysters and ocean trout, both of which were phenomenal. Yum yum yum! Kept considering going back over the weekend :) don't miss it!

“No surprise it's Number 1”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

On the basis of the Tripadvisor reviews we booked Sunday lunch on a day when Cyclone Oscar was ripping into Broadbeach and were not disappointed. We had the $40 special lunch of 2 courses with a glass of wine. We started with an extra of salt glazed bread with goats cheese curd and roast garlic and balsamic dips. To be honest I could have eaten that all day it was so moorish. My first course of beef carpaccio was sublime, beautiful thin sliced rare beef on a potato rosti with salad, my wife's cured Kingfish with sweet corn cream was equally as good. We both had salt and pepper prawns with spanner crab and the huge prawns were cooked to perfection. The service was excellent and we complimented the chef Jimmy, who joined us at the table to discuss our meal. A delightful touch made even better when complimentary dishes of scallops and gnocchi were delivered! If paid for we would have been delighted with this, as a freebie it was brilliant. The courses may not look over large but are surprisingly filling and we still had room for a shared chocolate dessert of parfait, salted caramel, pistachio and macaroon and biscuit crumbs. The restaurant is small and cosy, the seating comfortable and not overcrowded on the day of our visit. The quality of the food makes it clear why Rock Salt has received the awards it has and we'd have no hesitation in recommending it.

“Really great (thanks to Steve and absolutely wonderful food)”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

My wife and I enjoyed a fantasic dinner at RockSalt Modern Dining thanks to Steve and the wonderful tasty food. Due to an oversight, we were not told what the Specials were for the evening, but we overheard them being mentioned to another table. When we mentioned to Steve (our waiter) that we would have ordered the Ox (Beef) Cheeks that were a Special Main dish, he said he would try to arrange something for us. Well, we were blown away when we each received a substantial plate of delicious tender flavorsome beef cheeks. We had already enjoyed exquisite scallops (entree), steak and duck (mains) so we were quite full but, since everything was so wonderful, we just had to try a dessert. So we ordered the deconstructed lemon meringue pie which was certainly delicious and quite special. With full bellies, we asked for the bill and were pleasantly surprised to find that it was cheaper than expected due to a set menu price of $65 for 3 courses. So, with a bottle of nice wine and a tip for Steve, it cost us a total of $150 which was almost $250 less than we had paid in the previous week for a disappointing degustation meal at a top Gold Coast restaurant. So we consider this a real find and an absolute bargain. It was the best meal that we had during our 4 week holiday. We highly recommend RockSalt. Thanks Steve (and the chef, of course) for making this the restaurant highlight of our trip. We will definitely come back next year.

Brilliant. Second to none on the Coast (although on a par with Chill at Main Beach!!) and always maintains its high standards in both food and service. Can't recommend it highly enough.
