We loved our stay at Hameau les Cleves. It is a fun, welcoming and fantastically well-positioned place for a ski-in, ski-out holiday in Nendaz.

The owners, Corinne and Eric, are charming, relaxed and very helpful. We stayed in the gorgeous “Lodge” chalet, which, with its large comfortable beds, under-floor heating and Jacuzzi right next door, was a perfect place to relax after a long day’s skiing.

We enjoyed the mix of having the privacy of our own place with the ease of the cozy restaurant and bar right across the way, both of which had stunning views. The evening meals were delicious, and offered a mix of international cuisine and a real taste of the food and excellent wine from the valley.

The hotel has the benefit of the being very close to the Descendeur bar, which is right on the slopes and a popular après-ski haunt on sunny days.

We found the staff warm, friendly and helpful.

We had high expectations of the Hameau after a rave review in a UK newspaper and booked immediately. Its setting is stunning and they have the potential to create a beautiful luxury chalet hotel in a snowy paradise.
Positives of our stay:
1. Very warm welcome from owners, including towing us up the road very late at night after we got stuck in a snow storm and a lovely cheese platter with wine.
2. perfect slope-side ski-in ski-out location.... this could not have been better
3. great views from the restaurant, terrace and ski-bar
Areas of opportunity:
1. cleanliness of the room - no fresh towels throughout a 7 day stay, room sometimes cleaned but more often it was not.... bins weren't even emptied
2. very poor service from the Hameau staff ( with only a couple of exceptions). The staff were hung-over each morning and guests were treated as a nuisance. One morning we asked for bacon for breakfast (husband saw a member of staff eating bacon at the next table) and was firmly told by the waitress (who was consistently rude) that the bacon is for staff only. The staff made comments about the guests and who was still to come down for breakfast. They also made it clear that they preferred not to have guests eat dinner at the Hameau - we started eating in Nendaz from the middle of our trip. We felt like intruders in a holiday camp.
3. concerned about chalet rooms - no sound insulation and extremely steep ladders up to bedroom... let's hope no-one has an accident!!!!

Overall, it felt like a youth hostel charging luxury hotel prices....
Not a relaxing experience and glad to get home.

I hope that the owners take some proactive measures to improve the experience for future guests as the Hameau has great potential.

We spent one week skiing in Haute Nendaz this Feb. We stayed in the duplex suite 'La Grange'... which is just across the main building/restaurant over a little road.

What we liked: ski-in/ski-out. Fondue and Raclette evenings in the Fromagerie
What we didn't like:
(a) Accommodation:
stairs in the suite are far too steep, no railing... let's hope there won't be any serious issue, not at all convenient for younger children //
hardly any storage: there is e.g. no cupboard in the suite. Very strange if you think of all the skiing stuff you would like be hanging properly //
(b) Restaurant:
unsatisfactory quality-price ratio: we didn't feel quality of food was worth the SFR 45,- we have been charged for a 2 course meal. We would have been happy to pay that price: expecting far more in quality though//
breakfast officially starts at 08h00 - which makes it almost impossible to manage a 09h30 start of ski school for our kids. To give them credit: we were allowed to already have breakfast at 07h30.. cereals and bread only, not the proper cooked stuff we were charged for though...

hello017, Manager at Hameau les Cleves, responded to this reviewResponded June 11, 2011

Dear Sir/Madam
Since spring 2011 Hameau Les Cleves is under new management and no longer an open restaurant/hotel. The concept has changed to a private Mountain Lodge as has the name, which offers B&B packages in the summer and a personalized fully catered experience in the Winter, only for the Hameau guests. This way we can concentrate more on our guests needs and give each and every one full attention, as they deserve. We can ensure that cleanliness is at a very high standard and a towel change during a weekly stay is mandatory. The staff are carefully handpicked and have experience in the customer service industry.
The Grange suites have been worked on and the soundproofing is much better, and when possible will only be rented to groups of 4. There is still a ladder staircase which is shown in all our photos, and should this be a problem we have plenty of other accommodation available.
I hope you can put your previous experience aside and come visit us again in the NEW Hameau Mountain Lodge in Nendaz.
Regards
Hameau Mountain Lodge

We have just returned from a week at Hameau les Clèves. The restaurant and the Lodge are magnificent and we have never experienced such incredible service before.
It's a little haven in the Alps.
The location is in Les Clèves which is above Haute Nendaz station. We have made many great hiking trips. We climbed to the top off the Dent and when we got back had the most wonderful dinner at the restaurant. We slept at the Lodge off the Hameau which is exclusive and luxurious compared to other hotels we had in Nendaz before.
The owners welcomed us and we felt right at home.
We will return in winter time because it's location is great. It is what we are looking for. A real Ski in ski out.
