My husband and I stayed here last night for our wedding night. The lodge is just perfect. We have stayed in lots of holiday apartments and cottages and this one is by far the cleanest (it is totally spotless) and most well equipped. The kitchen has every utensil and all the equipment you could need for a weekend, week or even longers stay. Quality items not cheap supermarket ones. The rest of the lodge is ideal for a couple wanting a romantic break, stunning views from the lounge, comfy sofas and a nice large TV. The bedroom is beautiful with a large firm bed and another TV ( there is also one on the kitchen!) Another review said the garden area was not dog secure, we didn’t have a dog with us but the owners have obviously replaced the fence as this area would now be secure for a dog with a good sturdy fence that no dog could get through. The owners were helpful when asked but not intrusive so you felt like you were there alone and able to relax without being bothered by anybody which was nice however when we did have a question Sarah was very helpful and a pleasure to deal with.
We would return here happily and I would recommend this lodge to any couple wanting a nice little break in a relaxing environment.
Overall a very nice stay. It was a very warm and cosy accommodation. Lovely views. Straightforward check-in/check-out. Main negatives for us were that the kitchen is on different level to living area and bedroom, poor wi-fi and phone reception when we were there and one of the sofas was very uncomfortable.
We absolutely loved our stay here! The cottage is in a stunning location, is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. We took our 15 month old daughter and Sarah had very kindly set up the cot and put a high chair out for her. It was a perfect place to relax and enjoy the Peak District.
I stayed at Moorland lodge with my daughter and cocker spaniel. On arrival the impression was one of cleanliness and tastefully decorated accommodation. Teabags, coffee, milk and loo roll were available and gratefully received. My daughter made up the sofa bed with spotlessly clean linen which had been left in the wardrobe. Lovely, wild views are to be enjoyed from all windows.
The bathroom was bright and nicely designed except for the sloping ceiling above the sink! This could be an issue for anyone tall.
The little garden space was more than sufficient, especially given the views of moorland, fields, cows, sheep and horses. It would have made my life a lot easier however, if the garden had been securely fenced to prevent my dog from escaping. The open fence poles wouldn't even keep in a large dog. Having to keep my pet on a lead for every little toilet break was a bit tiresome, especially given all the rain! It would be easy to add stock wire to the fence and would be welcomed by all dog owners, I'm sure.
The main bedroom is bright , comfortable and spacious and the kitchen, although small, is well equipped, nicely furnished with everything you need and benefits from large patio doors on to the private garden.
The country setting is lovely with easy access to Baslow, Chatsworth and surrounding villages.
The location was perfect for getting away from it all, with glorious views of the Baslow countryside. The cottage was beautifully decorated and equipped and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We hope to be back sometime in the future!
We stayed at the lodge for our 10 year wedding anniversary, and Sarah could not have been more helpful. We received a lot of info prior to arrival, such as directions, where to eat, taxi companies etc.. So no welcome lack needed. There was fresh milk on our arrival, as well as a bottle of prosecco to celebrate our anniversary, which considering we were only staying one night was an amazing touch!
She even offered to drop us off for a meal in the nearest town if we had a problem with a taxi, which we didn't.
The views are absolutely wonderful, and the lodge is so tastefully done up, it was a real treat. And the bed and linen was solo comfortable!
We ate at Charlie's Bistro, as the nearest pub The Robin Hood stops serving food at 8.30pm, and the food was out of this world.
All in all, a perfect night away! Thank you!
We'll be back...
Great location. Cute place. Did a lovely walk on the moors to the nearest pub which offers an amazing range of food.
Sarah was brilliant. Very personable. Even though she was away she still attended to all our queries very professionally & looked after us.
First time we've stayed anywhere without a Welcome / info pack & complimentary arrival milk ...... But place was fully equiped & Sarah provided a lot of info in advance plus it is nice to discover things ourselves & explore.
Would recommend and would stay again.
Neighbours dogs friendly and well behaved & added a homely feel although they did not come inside.
Thank you Sarah. We enjoyed our stay. :)
