A stunning building, a great experience, lovely food and a great service experience, but the silence in one dinning room was deafening.

We were booked into Baslow Hall for the night and unable to have an evening meal due to a commitment that evening. We chose to book for lunch. When we arrived we were shown to the lounge area for drinks and to peruse the menu. There was a set price menu and a la carte. We opted for the fixed price as it was under £30 for 3 courses and the menu options all sounded devine, we were spoiled for choice. We chose a lovely bottle of wine to accompany our meal from the extensive wine list. We were given an appetiser in the lounge with our drinks, radishes with a creme fraise dip. Once in the restaurant we were given an amuse bouche which was exquisite. Our starters then arrived cured salmon for me and belly pork for my husband. For mains I chose the guinea fowl and my husband the tuna. We had desserts and then coffee and petit fours to finish in the lounge. The whole meal was of the highest quality, all faultlessly cooked and presented. The staff were pleasant and very professional. All of the vegetables are fresh and many I believe were taken from the extensive kitchen gardens on site. All excellent value for the level of food and service provided. A real treat.

A special celebration at a special place.
Excellent food with beautiful balance of flavours. We had the classic menu which gave us several dilemmas. Fortunately we are for two nights so had the chance to try a few things!
Fabulous lamb kofta was the highlight of the pre-starters.
Pork jowel was a delight.
Everything was well thought out and superbly delivered.
Can't wait to return!

Our most recent visit was for a birthday lunch but over the last 6 years we have eaten here 15 or so times. We've stayed for their Valentine's break twice and had a private room for my partner's 40th birthday. Each time the food has been excellent.

At dinner the hot canapés are a real highlight. The food is imaginative without being fussy and the sheer consistency of the cooking is what brings us back time after time. Their lunch at around £25 for three courses is a real bargain.

Its 7/10 in the Good Food Guide is spot on, it is without doubt one of the best restaurants in the North of England.

The service is also great as are the rooms.
