This Michelin starred restaurant is terrific. The menu has been reimagined in the last couple of years. The food is lighter and uses produce from Fischer's garden. The house and grounds are lovely. Dinner starts with drinks and excellent appetizers in the drawing room. The staff is very nice, helpful and professional. It is not cheap but, if you are a foodie, it is well worth it.

Travelled up from London specifically to eat here and went with family, who live closer, for a special occasion. Booked in advance and was asked about special requirements, which were fully noted and implemented when we arrived.
Staff friendly and attentive, food a delight - well cooked, well presented and nicely balanced. Each mouthful was a joy. Something for everyone - including a vegetarian menu that was more than cheese for every course.
Hors d'oeuvres served with drinks on arrival was an unexpected treat, as were the amuse bouche and palate cleanser. Bread board was a triumph of varied and tasty examples of the baker's art and the 'assiette de desserts' was to die for.
Meal was £72 for three courses inc Hors d'oeuvres etc - which while not cheap was definitely very good value for money for Michelin star quality.
Thoroughly recommend and would be a frequent visitor if I lived closer.

Decided to book Fischers to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The whole meal was a delight. One of our party was vegetarian and was pleased to find they had a separate vegetarian menu with interesting choices, so much so, that another person in the party decided to choose their main course from that menu.
The thing that made the meal special were the little extras, the canapés in the bar before the meal (the aubergine mousse in a crisp cone was gorgeous), an amuse bouche, (though not sure that the tomato jelly was strictly vegetarian!), a mint and lime granita as a palate cleanser between the main course and dessert, plus chocolates with coffee made a 3 course meal feel like a banquet.
My personal selections of a smoked rib of beef and turbot were both equally delicious, the flavours were really unusual. I consider myself to be a reasonable cook, and often find myself thinking, when I go out, that I could have cooked the meal just as well myself. That certainly was not the case with this meal - in fact we had to ask what one of the vegetables was.
Throughout the meal the staff were polite and attentive - the courses arrived promptly, but I never felt rushed. All in all a lovely evening.

We booked a meal at Fischer"s on the strong recommendation of friends. Perhaps the mistake was to choose the "Taster" menu - 10 different dishes but mostly so small that we hardly had a taste. The food was beautifully prepared and presented, with some novel ideas but some ingredients represented by so small a smear or blob on the plate that only the menu left at the table revealed their presence; not so the green froth on 3 of the dishes and the mound of tasteless and texture-less giant couscous with the lamb - surely foam went out of fashion ages ago? Service was good and attentive, but the whole atmosphere was totally subdued and joyless - really not a fun evening. Both food and wine are vastly over-priced and it all felt so pretentious. Not one we shall return to.
