“Secret Wedding”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

A memorable stay in a superbly comfortable welcoming and friendly luxury hotel with impeccable but unobtrusive care and attention. A taste of luxury in a beautiful setting with a great ambiance. Our wedding (that was a secret to all guests but us!) was thoughtfully organised by dedicated staff Amy and Janet for whom nothing was too much trouble. A truly wonderful occasion for us that we will remember forever. Local suppliers supported us admirably. The food deserves its Michelin star status and should tempt food lovers who love good, fresh, modern British food. No-one who visits will be disappointed and like us will want to return as soon as they can.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main house are traditionally sumptuous. Garden rooms are large and contemporary. Good f...

Taste bud Heaven. Location to die for, food sublime, staff attentive and polite. Yes it's a tad expensive, but for the whole experience totally worth it!! My tastebuds and I can't wait for my next visit! Thank you to the Fischers team for a wonderful time!

We have just spent the most relaxing weekend in a "Garden Room" at Fischer's as a treat for our 20th wedding anniversary. The room was lovely, the bathroom luxurious and the food... The food was to die for. All weekend nothing was too much trouble but equally the service was very unobtrusive and subtly done. Going back to the food, we had menu of the day on Friday which was beautiful but which paled into insignificance when we had the "Taste of Britain" 9 course meal on Saturday with selected wines. I have never had such delicate but beautifully balanced flavours which melded perfectly without being smothered and in portion sizes that meant you knew you had been fed but did not feel over stuffed even after 9 courses. It's certainly not cheap but it was the perfect venue for a celebratory weekend.

I was whisked away by my partner for a romantic few days in the Peak District and was lucky enough to spend a night at Fischer's. We were immediately made to feel most welcome by the friendly and attentive staff. The room (Vernon) was beautifully furnished and very comfortable. We chose the Classic menu over the 9 course taster menu for our evening meal and were not disappointed. Every course we had chosen, plus the delightful amuse bouche and complimentary dishes were delicious. The breakfast was equally good with the tastiest scrambled egg and sausage I've probably ever tasted. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Dinner, bed and breakfast to celebrate a special birthday - a really friendly welcome and attentive service - the tasting menu was a truly unique gastronomic experience - comfortable and well-appointed bedrooms - and the full works for breakfast! And a really beautiful setting to explore Chatsworth and surrounding countryside. Thank you for a very happy, relaxing and memorable occasion.

We enjoyed the fabulous value of the 20.12 Menu last July and have previously enjoyed Sunday Lunch, so the opportunity to try the tasting menu was irresistible - and we weren't disappointed! Incredible artistry, presentation and tastes. Very well paced, balanced and served by friendly and knowledgeable staff. As a party of four, two went for the wine matching which was exquisite! We finished off with wonderful coffee and chocs by the fire - a wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable afternoon! Highly recommended!

Having been a regular client of Susan & Max Fischer's for many years, I can only reiterate how exceptional this restaurant is.
Today's Sunday lunch lived up to all our expectations. From the starters of tempura prawn and crab, sea bream or squash soup through mains of lamb. pork or aubergine cannelloni and finishing with sticky toffee pudding, pana cotta or rhubarb crumble, each dish was superbly crafted and presented. A good wine list suits all pockets.
Baslow Hall is a delightful former private residence which the Fischers have tastefully changed into a very pleasant restaurant with rooms. The later addition of a separate collection of suites has enhanced the offer.
All in, this is an exception place with great accommodation, comfort and, most importantly, stunning food.
Any talk of stuffy atmosphere has to be in the mind of the reviewer, I have not felt this way in over 30 years of patronage.
