This was our third or fourth visit and we've enjoyed every evening. The food is good - a very varied menu with starters around £5, mains £10 and puddings at £5. Having said that a few of the specials are a little bit more but worth every penny! The meat is sourced locally and the brisket and gammon we had were both faultless. The staff combine friendliness and professionalism perfectly and there are three real ales, including one Jennings always - a long way from its Lake District home but it travels well! The main bar is very comfortable - most people are eating but they seem to keep a few seats for those who just want a drink. The bar at the back has stone flagged floor for walkers and climbers.
