“comfortable surroundings and reasonable price”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2013

I met a friend after work here. Its the first time I have been and will probably return. The internal decor is comfortable, the service was prompt and friendly and the food was reasonable and a fair price. I had salmon salad which consisted a massive lump of fish on a nice bed of fresh crunchy english salad and was worth 7 pounds. My friend has a prawn and chicken laska which resembled something you would get out of a packet from TESCO but tasted nice - or so I was led to believe.
Total meal and drinks cost was less than £20 (4 drinks and two main meals) so you cant compain about the cost.
This pub is organised with table service for food ordres and bar service for drinks orders and so is more of a restaurant than a pub but that does not detract from its overall charm. I will go again without a doubt.

“A good pub for the family”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2013

It was inevitable that I would revisit the Wheatsheaf for lunch, it only took a little bit of sunshine and a visit from the in-laws to put me on the 15 minute drive into Baslow.

For families on a sunny day there is non better in the area.

This time I was not overwhelmed by the food but if I am honest I don't ever go for that reason alone. The children quickly make friends and go about being children, kicking balls, climbing frames in a well maintained and spacious outdoor "beer" garden.

Will go again when the famous British Summer starts.

“The Wheatsheaf - Baslow. Lovely family restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2013

Just been up to the Baslow for a couple of nights and arrived lateish on Friday night...needed somewhere quick and easy for supper and our B and B recommended The Wheatsheaf. Large menu of the ribs and chicken variety (sort of Wetherspoons type) and we were not expecting much but actually, the food was very fresh and tasty and the portions huge....lovely atmosphere with diners of all ages and types (couples, families, older diners). We were really impressed with the fantastic and attentive service. Would definitely go back. Well done to the team there....

“Mothers Day Lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 10, 2013

What a pleasure to visit baslow on a sunday lunch and not have to book.
Although it was really busy we were met at the door and the procedure explained.
We went to the bar and got drinks and was suprised that a table was ready in 10 minutes,
The staff were friendly and very efficient.
Pub food at its best, with a log fire too.
You wont find better value for your money with a smile in the peak district.
Will be back soon.
