“Spacious and comfortable”
Reviewed January 18, 2013

My husband and I struggled to find somewhere to stay in Rangiora using the local town map as we found many of the B & B's and home stays had closed. We ended up walking into the Lilybrook and were fortunate to find a room. A slight hiccup on check in, we were given a room that was already occupied but the chap at the desk was very accommodating and gave us a free upgrade in exchange. We were given a very spacious 1 bedroom unit with separate lounge/kitchen/dining area. The decor was very dated, but in walking past some of the rooms it looks like some have received a decor upgrade, so hopefully the rest will receive the well needed facelift in time. The furniture in our unit was a mixed bag but adequate and comfortable. The full compliment of Sky TV channels was very welcome after a long day on the road.

The unit was quite clean, but someone had neglected to empty the rubbish bin in the kitchen, leaving us with a full bin of someone else's stuff. It was not really an issue as we just left our beer bottles on the counter, but if we had been cooking in it might have been a bother.

The room was reasonably priced and there was plenty of room for parking. The beds were comfortable and in spite of being on the main road it was quite quiet. The shower pressure is very good. We had a nice sleep and no hassles on check out.

Good value for the money, and once the units all get upgraded it will be a very nice place to stay.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear of the motel, away from the street are quieter.

We had booked a room for 4 adults and were lucky enough to be given the "managers" quarters. We couldn't have asked for better in fact we could have fitted 8 people in there. The beauty of this accommodation is each unit has its own private courtyard. We also had a dishwasher, a spa bath and a full oven which is rare in alot of places.
Geoff the manager was very helpful and friendly. There is a Countdown just down the road and a small dairy right across the road so everything is reasonably handy.
We have stayed here before and certainly would do again if we have another function in Rangiora.

Drove in off the street late on a Sunday night.. Geoff (Manager) was very friendly and accommodating and provided exactly the type of room we needed. Room was clean and fit for purpose. Sky TV channels and wireless Internet provided all within the price. 2 minutes from Rangiora town by car and well worth the $95NZ we paid for a double room.

We were planning to stay at Christchurch but reasonable priced accommodation was all full. Since we were travelling with two small children and no suitable rooms were available we were given the managers room, two bedrooms, folding cot, bathroom with a bath, big living area. It suited us very well. The staff were very helpful.
