“Not enough”

The centre is mainly a cinema showing films throughout the day. The museum part is very small and was disappointing

“Awesome”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2014

Was such a pleasant surprise to do this. I had travelled over New Zealand and didnt know it was possible to do this type of thing in Mt Cook.

I watched a presentation in the planetarium they have which was informative & entertaining. The guide that talked us through the things in the planetarium then joined up with another guide and we went out and looked at the stars.

What you pay for here is the information. It is beautiful but made so much more so from the way the staff operated. They were so excited to tell us about the things in the sky and often even discussed amongst themselves how beautiful things were. One negative is that it was a small area with many people but it didnt seem like that with the way the staff handled it. it may have been nice to sit down at one point.

I know now so much more and will never forget this experience.

“Very good, must do.”

For only $20 you get a full pas to a museum (although small) and a whole range of shows, movies and documentaries. I asked a staff member about the cost as there is another museum in the area that is free and he said there is money donated to the himalayan trust fund which is quite cool.

The shows are very good, and price covers you over a few days if your there. The staff were great, able to give me recommendations (better than the hostel in the area!), ideas and information about the area. There is not much openly advertised about mt cook but once you talk to some of the staff there is a great place to explore, i wish i had more days!

The highlight was the stargazing tour at night time, great value and an great experience. Only negative is that there were not toilets in the theatre and you cannot drink or eat in there.

“Only partly functioning”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 6, 2014

When we visited the main cinema was closed for maintenance but there was a film showing about the climbing of Mt Cook and also someone who skied down it. Made me weak at the knees to watch but really interesting and fantastic scenery. The rest of the exhibition was not great but worth going in just for the film.

“Not just Everest”

Some really good films for a very reasonable entrance fee - not time limited. Informative without being dull.
