“Panorama Restaurant at Mt. Cook Village”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2013

Excellent food at a location that can't be beat for the views of Mt. Cook. There is a nice museum downstairs, with the history of the great mountaineer, Sir Edmond Hillary,...and great walking trails below the Centre.

“Great food and service with fantastic view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2013

Had a window table with a perfect view of mount cook, we were lucky enough to go on a clear day the first night so view was spectacular. Food was delicious, going to have to replicate the brocollini with macadamias at home. Was so tasty went back on our second night. Staff all very friendly and service excellent.

“Yummy smoked potatoes”

You'd be crazy not to like the view of Mt Cook from the dining room. Service was very good and the food consistently good around the table (included 3 children). We weren't planing on dining there so the quality came as a pleasant surprise. The hotel at Mt Cook has a monopoly on eateries at the mountain so I'd advise making sure you budget for a gourmet meal. While the choice of eating venues is limited at least this was, for us, a worthwhile meal.

“Fine fare amidst dramatic backdrop”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 21, 2012 via mobile

Having read some of the more negative reports on TA it was with some trepidation we entered the Panorama. We settled on this venue as the Buffett next door was full of tour bus patrons and very busy, additionally the layout did not allow views from many of the tables. However in Panorama we had a great spot and found the menu to be well constructed with the food itself fresh, well presented and at reasonable prices. A pretty decent winelist and well intended if not overly knowledgeable wait staff capped off what was a memorable night. The sky was clear and views spectacular so this perhaps had something to do with the perception, but on first impressions I would not hesitate to go back.

“The local cafe is better”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2012

Service was non-existent just like the view from our table. We had booked the day before and despite this other guests who booked after us were seated at a better table. The views were better from the carpark. The food took nearly an hour to arrive and was like an average pub meal trying to be gourmet and not succeding. Go to the old mountaineers cafe instead which gives better value for money and friendlier service.
