We have dined here before and had a good meal a few years ago so on our return visit to Aoraki we decided to go with what we knew. However, on entering the cafe it was cold. We went straight to the fire to try and get some warmth but it wasn't really pumping out enough heat. There was one other log burner at the other end of the room which all the tables were huddled around but it wasn't good enough. As a result all we wanted was to order, eat quickly and get back to the warmth of our motel. I think they need to get some extra heating sources for the cooler winter months which would help with the ambience and the feel. Food was ok,nothing amazing, but all overshadowed by the fact we all ate at a 100 miles an hour with our puffer jackets on to get out as quick as we could. Probably should have got food to go. Did mention the lack of warmth to waiter but he just said it was cold outside. Yep it was...and inside too.
