After a short drive around Mt Cook Village to see what (limited) options we had for food, my husband and I decided to have lunch here. We were staying at The Hermitage hotel and wanted to eat at some place less expensive than the hotel's restaurants. This was a great choice! The restaurant had a cosy lodge feel and the service was great. We couldn't decide what to order, and the staff were tremendous in helping us decide. Food was good, nothing spectacular, but hearty and enough to last us till dinner. Not forgetting the superb views of the mountains! If it was warmer, we would have sat at the outdoor tables to just enjoy and soak in the lovely Mt Cook air.

There's also a gallery and gift shop so it was nice to just walk around inside.

We're so glad you found us! The hotel are meant to have us on their map, but don't seem to have managed to find us yet! Great that you did! Thanks for your lovely review, and do come back again and visit next time you're here. Kind regards, Mary and Charlie

This restaurant was a bit disappointing. I wouldn't go again. Just expensive for what we had.?.........

We are sorry to hear that you considered the experience just average. I visited each table that evening and everyone voiced pleasure at the food and the ambiance. If perhaps you wouldn't mind mentioning it at the time, we would certainly take steps to ensure your experience was all you'd hoped for. Just a note on the costs: we take less of a profit margin just so our guests can enjoy as much organic food of the highest quality as possible and our food charges seem on a par with other places, although due to our very remote location sometimes transport costs may hike things up slightly more. Kind regards,

Cozy atmosphere and owners are extremely friendly. Very good food too, and beautiful views of Mount Cook and the surrounding area. I would definitely eat here if you are in Mount Cook.

We could not have been more pleased with our choice to cancel our reservation at the Panarama Room and dine here instead. Our meal was absolutely wonderful. Everything was fresh and presented nicely. The service and staff were wonderful, especially the owners who took the time to check in with each and every table. The atmosphere was casual and lively, which was perfect for the mountain setting. If you are ever in the Mt.Cook area, this is the place to try.

Menu was a little limited but pizza/salads are perfectly adequate for lunch. Drink selection could also be better. Feel they are missing out a bit on an opportunity given the fairly limited eating options in mount cook. Not somewhere I would recommend for dinner.

Sorry to hear that you considered dinner just average on this particular evening. I did visit each table and all seemed to be well. Please, if you're ever back this way, let us know at the time so we can sort anything non-optimum out on the spot. Kind regards Charlie and Mary
