Lovely camp ground, exceeded our expectations. Beautiful views out to Aoraki Mt Cook, and over Lake Pukaki with an access way down to the lake. More expensive than a DOC site but I think worth every penny. There was a kitchen and an outdoor cooking shelter with stoves/BBQs to use, the bathrooms were modern and in good shape, and it was easy enough finding a spot for our tent. It did mean a drive of nearly an hour back to the walks near Mt Cook, and an hour or so back to Tekapo, but for us it was the perfect place to stay.

We are very glad that you enjoyed every part of our camp ground.
It's a very beautiful spot surrounded by mountains and still close enough to get into Aoraki Mount Cook National Park, a 18km drive.

The Glentanner Park Centre has some cute rabbits around the area which is interesting for children. However, the food option is very limited and you will have to travel to Mount cook village for dinner or cook your own meal. The room is not sound proof and you can hear other guests talking outside or walking around which can be quite disturbing during sleeping time.

Thanks a lot for your review.
Yes, we are in quite a remote location, 24km to Aoraki/Mt.Cook Village and 44km to Twizel, which makes our camp ground very special and tranquil. We are sorry that your sleep got interrupted through other guests.

This campsite is within the Mt Cook National Park and to far away from the Hillary Centre and all the other Mt Cook activities. The layout of the Park Centre is very good with access to the river. Facilities very good and very clean and cared for. I did not stay in a hotel on the site I was travelling in my Campervan and had a powered site.

Having stayed in similar places in the States with poor results, I wasn't really looking forward to this part of the trip but this was the only accommodation we could get for Mt Cook that wasn't a single bunk in the village.

We were blown away but how incredibly clean everything was! The bunkroom: spotless. The bathrooms: gleaming. The kitchen and shared dishes: scoured. What a pleasant surprise.

Make sure you stop in Twizel and pick up some food to cook because you'll need to use the kitchen for your dinner.

Great views, and nice campsite, but not a cheap budget. Plus no power in morning as they lost it. WiFi was poor. The stars at night were the best we saw all trip. Bottles of water from shop were over 5 dollars.

Sounds like you a enjoyable stay and were lucky to have beautiful Southern Night Sky during your visit.
The whole Mount Cook area had a power cut due to maintenance. We informed all our guests on check in and our new shower facilities and the BBQ Pavilion (hot plates) were up and running on the generator.
