Nice camp site very private and facilities are clean and well maintained, BBQ area look pretty new. Looks like sheep graze the camp site so there dryed out dropping are left around the place. Staff were very friendly. There is no allocations so u can be as private as u like or stay right near the facilities

Thank you for your great review. It is wonderful to hear of your great experience here. With regards to the 'droppings', sheep do not graze in the holiday park so they are probably from rabbits, hares or pheasants :)

We hope to see you back in NZ and at Glentanner in the future

Kind Regards,

Kate Ivey and the Team at Glentanner Park Centre

We stayed here for two nights in a camper van. The views over Lake Pukaki and Mount Cook are amazing. The sites are spacious, but not very level. The facilities are pretty basic, but clean. It is a 15-20 min drive from Mount Cook village, therefor less crowded. Friendly staff.

Thank you very much for your great review, which is very helpful for others travelling to our wonderful region.

Glad you loved our views, enjoyed our spacious powered sites and found our facilities clean. With regards to the site's 'level', we leave them natural to allow for drainage so some are more level than others. This has proved to be the best option.

Thanks again, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Located close to Mt. Cook Village and almost all of the most popular hikes (walks) in Mt Cook NP, Glentanner is a well-run and very clean campground; it offers 30 minutes of free wifi, and has large and well equipped kitchens and a very helpful staff. It's a little more expensive than many campgrounds, but far less expensive than staying in its hotel rooms or any of the rooms in the village---18 km away, or trying to drive to and from Mt Cook every day from a campsite "in town." For what we wanted---one night in a powered site with wifi and free hot showers followed by one night in a DOC site right at Mt. Cook with no electrical hookups or showers--- Glentanner was perfect!

We were going to stay at Lake Tekapo to break up our drive from Queenstown to Christchurch, but because it was so busy we went with Glentanner, on the neighbouring Lake Pukaki.
The best reason to do this are the unparalleled views of Mount Cook and the blue glacial Lake Pukaki, and the stunning valley around. Glentanner also run helicopter and plane tours, and offer dorm beds, private rooms and camping plots all very cheaply.
Do buy your food in the city before you leave as there are no shops for an hours drive at least, but the location just can't be beat.

Thank you very much for your wonderful wonderful review! We are so pleased you decided to stay with us, instead of in Lake Tekapo.

It was such a pleasure reading your review, I just wanted to say thank you for writing such an informative one for future travelers! I also just want to clarify to anyone reading this that the closest supermarkets are in Twizel which is 40km away, about 30 mins.

Thanks again, we look forward to seeing you back at Glentanner in the future.

Stayed for one night in this lovely peaceful place. Great stay between Lake and Mountains. As there was only a few camper on the campground, we had a quiet and peaceful stay in our hired camper van. Absolutely recommendable

Stayed for one night in one of the self contained units, and was very relaxing up until a family moved in next door at 9.30 at night.
They were a bit noisy until 2am. The walls need to be sound proof if they are going to put older couples with families.
Other than that, great walk to the lake, great view.
The cafe made great food and was very helpful and friendly

Room Tip: Ask who is next door or if the rooms are sound proof

Thank you very much for your review. Sorry to hear your relaxing time was cut short, but pleased that apart from that you had a wonderful time!

Sometimes it can be noisy between units in our Self Contained Cabins, however this was significantly reduced when we revamped the bathrooms in 2010 and added sound proof Gib. To get rid of noise altogether we would need to put sound proof Gib on all the walls. This is a very costly exercise, but something we would like to do in the future. We have found that one room is the least sound proof so we sell this one last. Generally we find most guests are courteous and we are sorry this was not the case for you.

We hope to see you back at Glentanner in the future.

Our family of five stayed for two nights in an attractive self contained unit. It was comfortable, clean and had all we needed, but was a bit tight for space with our five suitcases. We thought it would be useful to have more shelves for all the phones, keys, etc. Wifi was pretty inconsistent and could not be relied on but we found that at a lot of places in NZ.

We were lucky that we finally had two lovely fine days so we enjoyed the stunning sunsets over Aoraki from our unit. We used the unit as a base and then drove to the Emerald Lakes walk and the Hooker Valley walk both of which were fabulous. We decided the vista from Glentanner was better despite being further away because you get the full view of Aoraki.

Room Tip: The self contained unit was quite small for five people with suitcases (sofa bed, double and single...
