Food different from usual cafe food and much better. Always friendly service with great coffee. Good little deli for those special pantry goods.

“Keeping up the standard”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2012

Another good qulaity eatery in Fairlie. Had lunch here on a recent visit. Lovely, light, healthy options and good coffee. We had the house specialty beetroot salad and also the roast stuffed mushrooms. The tomato base with the mushrooms was perhaps a bit heavy and overpowering but still a nice lunch option. The bakery options were varied and flavoursome also, although on the expensive side. Would recommend (particularly on Tuesdays when the Red Stag is closed!!)

“good cafe, nice place to stop”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2012

If you're driving from Christchurch to Queenstown this is a nice place to stop and have lunch. A decent toasted sandwich (ham could have been better, thick slices, better texture), very good cappuccino, great almond and orange cake. Friendly staff.

“Definitely the place to stop for lunch!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2012

Every year we head to Wanaka for a week's holiday (from Christchurch), and this is where we always stop for lunch, on the way there, AND the way back. We always look forward to finding out the new dishes on offer. There is a huge range of great cabinet food (different than the average run of the mill stuff you usually find elsewhere for cabinet food), as well as a board and specials menu that has great variety. There is always an 'exotic' choice (usually delicious Asian flavours), as well as the old favourites. This cafe is amazing for gluten-free choices. Our only gripe is that our coffee orders haven't been correct on our last three visits - either the wrong coffee, or delivered at a time vastly different to what we requested, relative to when we receive our food (eg way before, or way after when we've been sitting a while and are ready to leave). However, the service is excellent, friendly and helpful. Nice clean toilets here too. A great place to break your journey - food is always prepared quickly and is beautifully cooked and presented. It is excellent value.
