“Great view from the balcony!”
Reviewed July 14, 2012

Friendly staff, clean room and a private balcony overlooking the sea - perfect! We enjoyed walking around the harbour looking at the boats and if we'd been staying longer we may have gone on one of the boat tours. Easy access to the less "touristy" part of PEI, which we liked. As other guests have said, there's not a lot going on in Alberton but the restaurant next to the inn had a good choice of food and was very reasonable. A great location for relaxing.

This is a beautiful property with a welcoming, family-friendly environment. If you are exploring the north-west part of Prince Edward Island and want to relax in style at the end of the day, this would be an excellent choice. We had a large room that easily accommodated three adults and a child. The kitchenette was a welcome addition.

We were touring through P.E.I. without reservations and happened to come upon the brochure for this Inn while eating at the Seaweed Pie Restaurant. The location sounded intriguing so we decided this is where we wanted to stay. Our room was on the second floor which you get to from the stairs on the outside. All the rooms face the water and what a treat to have a balcony. We actually got up in the early morning (4:30 a.m.) just so we could stand on our balcony & watch the lobster boats leaving the wharf.
The rooms were very clean, the breakfast filled us and the area was nice for walking around the wharf. We only stayed the 1 night so we didn't venture too far out in the area.
We were impressed with the accomodations and would definitely stay here again when we visit P.E.I. again.

Over the past years we have stayed at this place several times. Each time we stay here it is as good if not better than the time before. Great Inn with an even better location. People very nice and helpful. Not much going on around here for night life but if a great room at a good price in a wonderful location is your thing, you must try this place.

Room Tip: Bottom floor on the North end is our favorite.

We chose the Northport Pier Inn because of its location literally on the shore of Northport harbour; but it was the many amenities we discovered that charmed us. A boardwalk takes you either to the harbour, or down the steps to the shore where we watched the tide coming in. The rooms are large, bright and clean, although second floor accommodation does require a climb on outside stairs. Our room had a private balcony overlooking the waterfront. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The inn owner was actually the on-duty hostess the morning we checked out, as she was the hostess at The Boathouse restaurant next door, the previous evening. Cathy Bullied owns the restaurant too, and we recommend it highly. Although it was end of season and some menu items were limited, the food was absolutely outstanding, and the service could not have been warmer or friendlier. Our continental breakfast was served in a bright dining room, with many choices. The 'cook-your-own-egg' set up was different but interesting. If you're looking for a charming, romantic place to stay in PEI, on the ocean, for a night or two, then this is it.

Room Tip: Northport is a bit out of the way in PEI, but worth the side trip. You won't be disappointed wit...

Welcoming staff, clean airy room, comfortable beds, spacious bathroom, amazing ocean and harbour views from balcony, excellent breakfast, good gift shop...the only negative was that I couldn't stay longer. Northport/Alberton is a good location from which to explore Western PEI and day trips to the more touristy parts of the island can be easily accomplished using the Northport Inn as a base and relaxing haven after a busy day.

The rate is fantastic, the management so helpful, the rooms bright, airy and well thought out.
This is a lodge type hotel right on a seaweed beach with fantastic harbour views. We stayed in a 2nd floor room with a balcony on the corner. It was above expectations but could be a disability problem ( there are lower level rooms).
The breakfast was included and more than adequate with the attentive staff there to meet every request .
The restaurant in the building next door was run by the same management, an outdoor patio, great seafood, and a fabulous view of the fishing harbour.
Alberton doesn't have a lot to offer and the financial downturn is obvious but it's within a short drive to many other parts of the Island.
Anyone travelling to PEI should include a stay here
