“Very disappointing”
Reviewed February 22, 2014

We went to Dachstein Ice Palace from Schladming. The bus and cable car ride came to over €50 per person. The views from the skywalk (which is a viewing platform) are stunning as is the restaurant. The ice palace is really disappointing, poorly signed, extremely slippery with cables everywhere. The sculptures are sub standard. Make sure you check weather as this trip is only worth the expense on a clear day. Come here for the views but not the ice palace.

“Interesting attraction”
Reviewed January 26, 2014

We happened to visit here on a very cloudy day and in fact it was snowing. Unfortunately did not have any views but i am sure that on a clear day it would be great. The stairs to nowhere are an unusual attraction here. I loved being out here in the falling snow even without the view!

“Ski on a glacier in the middle of summer”
Reviewed January 22, 2014

We went skiing on the Dachstien glacier in July and it was awesome! What a treat! The ride up on the cable car was beatiful we had clear blue and sunny skies and fluffy clouds. You can fell the altitude so skiing fast is not an option at first - more slow and steady and enjoy the beauty and the fact that you get to glide along on real snow in July! There are two modest alpine runs with drag lift and a half pipe and small jumps but I was there for the nordic ski trails. It was stunning to be up that high in the sunshine and look down to the green valley below. It was hard work with altitude and wet snow but it was snow in July so can't complain. There is a nice outdoor cafe to sit and take the beauty in and rest and watch if you are not there to ski and there is the sky walk with allows for amazing photo and great views to the valley below. In the summer if you stay in a local hotel you get a discount on local attractions and transport. I loved being able to ski in summer and the beautiful views but the village itself is worth a stop even if you don't go up to the glacier. Nice restaurants and real Sound of Music feel.

“Breathtaking views”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

We were lucky to be in Dachstein on a sunny day, moreover there was an Austrian bank holiday, so the price for the cable car was reduced by 25%, otherwise if you want to see it all, you have to pay over 41euros- i.e. for the cable car and the Ice Palace including the price of the suspension bridge. A good idea Austrians! Though it is a bit pricey, I think it is worth the money.Once you get off the cable car, there is a skywalk - a platform with breathtaking views of the mountains, some of them snowclad. A few steps away there is an entrance to the Ice Palace and the Suspension Bridge. The suspension bridge is an interesting experience, not so scary as you might think, so definitely try it. At the end of the bridge there are "steps into nothingness", again a special experience, though there are usually a lot of people who want to take a snap. Not so scary as advertised on the web but definitely a unique experience. Do not miss it. The Ice Palace was a bit disappointing for me, as the floor was very slippery, it was all ice on the floor with the exception of some scattered metal grids and as it was the end of the season, there were reparaition works going on. Definitely saw a more interesting Ice Palace in Switzerland. Maybe children would like it. All in all do not miss the Dachstein mountain top area, even if you do not want to go skiing.

“Stunning View”
Reviewed October 11, 2013

A good experience to be High up on the mountain. I thought it a bit expensive at 33 euros each. but the sky bridge was free on the day, I cant believe you would normally have to pay for this. Didn't go to the Ice Cave, as we were not particularly interested. Did get some stunning photographs, on what was a very clear day.
