“Great place”
Reviewed April 20, 2012

La Isla is right down at the sand in Mazunte's Beach. The building is new and very cosy. Owners are great people and their friends who hang around there are as well. Just a great point to be at the beach with the sea at 50 mts, to rest, meet people and walk around. Mazunte is a little paradise, anyone who wants to be at a nice beach with great people around and good vibrations should go to Mazunte and be at least for a week.
Hope to be back soon to Mazunte and La Isla.

I am right now sitting in La Islas' garden having some breakfast. Actually it's not a garden, more like a private part of the beach since the ground is from sand and you can see and hear the ocean everytime (the real beach is only 5 meters away from the garden). It is a very relaxed place, friendly atmosphere and the I highly recommend the food. It starts of with a nice variation of breakfast, like Huevos, Tortas, several sweet dishes, and much more. For Dinner they have good Burritos, Tacos, Ensaladas and sometimes Falafel as well. Since the persons who run the Hostel cook by themselves it is always very tasty and prepared with love u can actually see. All dishes are colorful and made from fresh ingredients from the region, u will like it! They also have a bunch of vegetarian dishes. U can order delicious juices made from fresh fruits and very nice cocktails as well.

The rooms are nicely decorated and clean and there is a mosquitonet over every bed, so u don't need to worry about getting bitten while you are asleep. On first floor of the palmhouse is a dormitorio and a big 4 bed room. Also here you have everything with mosqitonets! I have been in a lot of hostels in Central and South America and I can definitely say that in comparison this here is very clean and nice. It is very new, maybe that's why.

The people who run the hostel are very nice and helpful, there is one girl from Germany, one from Russia and two guys from Argentina. So you won't have a problem in communication when u can either speak spanish or english.

All in all, I can say this a good place to relax and get away from it all, just enjoy the ocean and the atmosphere in this place. I have to leave in 2 days, but if I could i would extend my stay to have some more chilled days at La Isla!

I'd highly recommend La Isla. The four lovely people who run the place quickly became my friends. I stayed twice over the course of three weeks in the area, and would have stayed longer if I'd had the time. Pablo makes a mean Shrimp Curry Crepe, Alicia will make you a lovely maracuya milkshake, Kathy knows when it's Beer O'Clock and Lissi will put a smile on your face. Waking up to the sound of the sea is awesome, and this hostel is very relaxing. It's very colourful (Alicia's labour of love) and the guys have very good taste in music. I'll be back next year...get the shrimps on, Pablo.
