“Wonderful Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2013

We have just had an amazing weekend break at the Winchelsea Lodge Motel. It was completely faultless from our arrival to our departure!
The staff were very welcoming, friendly and truly professional. We felt so relaxed, safe and at ease here.
Our room was spotless, comfortable, and very well equipped. i.e. Tea and coffee making facilities, toiletries and hairdryer. I also requested an iron and ironing board which was brought to my room immediately.
There was a wide range of cereals on offer and the full English was delicious!
This is a very well run motel due to the manager Toby and his incredible staff, all of whom obviously work extremely hard to make the guests have a perfect stay!
Thank you to all of you. Sheila Hone

Our weekend break at the Winchelsea Lodge Motel was completely relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable. The room was spotless and very comfortable, all our needs were fulfilled. Rooms are supplied with tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer, a small selection of toiletries and an iron and ironing board can be provided upon request. There was a selection of tourist leaflets informing guests of the latest attractions which is extremely helpful for touring the area. The main road nearby was no problem whatsoever, our sleep was peaceful and undisturbed and the very comfortable beds helped immensely.
The breakfast couldn't have been better! A selection of fruit, cereal and yoghurt was provided and our cooked breakfast was served with a smile. The service was outstanding, staff couldn't have been more helpful, always friendly and willing to do anything to make the guests feel comfortable, happy and relaxed.
On Sunday's a Carvery is available at a very reasonable and affordable cost. Portions are generous, three meats on offer and all the trimmings from veg to stuffing, potatoes to yorkshire puddings and lashings of gravy to top it all off. The Carvery is available from 12 noon till 6pm.
On your visit be sure to take a trip to the historic, pretty town of Rye, you won't be disappointed! There is also an hourly bus service (every 2 hours on a Sunday) which is excellent to go out and explore the area.
We will surely stay at the Winchelsea Lodge again and would recommend it to anyone, it was simply perfect!

My wife and I stayed here as a base for our honeymoon so we could spend the time exploring the south coast, as we didn't want o go abroad. We arrived on a sat eve when it was quite late but we still was greeted warmly as they knew we wouldn't be arriving until quite late. On the Sunday we where pleased to see they had a carvery which was delicious and the portions where generous. The next day we started of by having a good breakfast with a ample choice of different things to have to set you up for the day. Yes it is next to a main road but we didn't find that an issue at all. The room was simply but clean and tidy, we liked the open brick work they had in the room. All together we wouldn't mind staying here again sometime in he future.

This is a great hotel, really freindly helpful staff and the food in the restaurant was really good and at a very reasonable price. We were a family group of 13 and from the moment we arrived we knew we had chosen the right hotel for our weekend away.

The views were spectacular and the rooms were clean and had everything you needed. The shower was hot and powerful, beds were comfy and had a nice white cotton duvet.

Would recommend this hotel

I stayed here for three nights as I needed to be close to Rye.The Lodge was excellent value for money and the staff were welcoming and accomodating, even agreeing to cook a kipper(for breakfast) that I had bought at the local farmers market.Apparently kippers are on the breakfast menu now which is good news when I go to stay there again.
Rooms were simpley decorated, comfortable, clean and tidy and dinners very tasty with a good varied menu including delicious sausages in onion gravy and seared salmon salad.
My shower was perfectly hot with good pressure.

The gallery for The Lodge doesn't do it justice. It's a lovely building in a stunning setting of low rolling hills with beautiful vistas in every direction. I would especially recommend the Lodge to other women travelling alone: I felt very safe and secure. The staff were helpful and friendly and made me feel very welcome from the start. The room was warm, clean, soothingly decorated and the bed super-comfortable. The TV had a movie channel and the wifi was reliable. The icontinental breakfast was fine for me: good service and more than enough to eat! Other guests praised the cooked breakfast available very reasonably.A beautiful footpath led from outside the Lodge around the stunning country side and the ancient towns of Rye and Winchelsea are just a few minutes' drive away as are gorgeous beaches. Hastings is a short drive away if you want bright lights and shops! The art galleries locally are impressive with the Rye Art Gallery and Hastings' Jerwood being particularly interesting. The Lodge is one of the few places I've stayed that I definitely want to return to with my family.
