“Birthday party and overnight stay”
Reviewed December 2, 2012

We stayed at the hotel as our friend had a 40th birthday party there. The room was basic but warm and very clean, the beds comfortable, the children slept past 8 am which was fantastic. Felt reassuring that the car was underneath in the carport and not in the main car park. The party was fantastic and the food was excellent. The breakfast was good, a good choice for the continental breakfast, the cooked breakfast was also good. The croissants were certainly not soggy! Yes there are limited tv channels but we didn't stay there to watch tv in our room. The children were made more than welcome and the staff couldn't do enough for us. We would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

As noted elsewhere more like a Motel than a Hotel. Parking is available under some of the rooms, but only for "compact" cars. Warm and clean room, but limited (about 10) tv channels, unusual since the digital switch. The night I stayed it poured and was blowing a gale, so it was a bit inconvenient having to go out to eat, but the food was good value and good quality. Staff friendly and helpful.

My family and I have just hosted a 60th birthday party at The Lodge and cannot rate the staff and service highly enough. We picked the lodge as it was affordable and very friendly.

Between all of our friends and family we hired 80% of the rooms and the main bar / restaurant for the party, with an evening buffet and had a full English breakfast the next day.

The rooms are simple, warm, clean and cosy (we stayed during a blustery Autumn weekend, so we appreciated how well heated they were) and we had no complaints from any of our 30+ overnighters.

The buffet food that the Lodge catered for the party was superb and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and it was good value per head.

Breakfast was a buffet the food was your typical English fry up catering for a large number of people - tasty and generous.

The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly which made us all feel very welcome.

Booked in for one night as was travelining in the area. Friendly, effcient staff, clean room, comfortable beds although the room was quite small, but well maintained and with a decent bathroom. Breakfast was reasonable - no complaints!

Pleasant little hotel, but lacking in character. Rooms rather on the small side, but relatively clean. The one I was given was quite claustrophobic (I even think that the window didn't open). Right off the main road, although noise was not an issue for me. The brakfast is nothing spectacular and it definately is not worth it to splash out an extra 5 pounds for the "full English breakfast".

The location is quite practical though and there are nice walks around.

Noisy (right next to A road) and thin walls so listen out for road noise or other guests. Room had a full-length window in the room looking out over courtyard so I could wave to other guests from my bed or my toilet and get woken at 3am with glaring headlights in my eyes. Wet room Shower was a warm dribble or a cold blast, nothing in-between. Drinks are very expensive (we wondered why were the only guests in the bar, but only till we got our first round in). Breakfast is continental which is a soggy crossant and cerial. The room had the smallest wardobe and the smallest chest of drawers ever (inside the wardrobe!). Place looks nice in photos but the accomodation block had the feel of a carpark.
On the plus side, nice staff, clean and tidy, and right in the countryside if you plan on walking.

Friendly staff, clean & good views.

The food was average, the bed extremely hard & you need a car or to like walking. Very close to Rye, Camber or Hastings (if you do have a car).

Would make a great function venue as it has 28 rooms away from the main building.
