We booked a weekend stay as a family treat as due to family illness a long holiday will not be possible. We know the local area of winchelsea and so thought we would try this site.
We booked as we could take the dog with us and as it is in close proximity to the sea and the local area of winchelsea village, hastings and Rye.
Upon arriving I was told we was lucky to have a key I was supprised by this having paid for an early check in and we arrived after the earliest time. A 5 pound deposit was required for the tv remote and a welcome pack was given. We found the caravan and to be honest I was disopointed. I know it was for a pet as well but it was ment to be a bronze plus so not the bottom of the range. The caravan was mainly lino floored, the seating was ripped and damaged in areas, the crockery was dirty. It was the most basic caravan we have ever stayed in and we have been in others which allowed pets!
You need to be aware with this site that a large number of caravans are privately owned and so its not like a traditional park. This also makes parking very difficult as we found out on the saturday night when we could not get parked for nearly 4hours and so when I approached a member of staff I was told oh well it can happen as people bring up to 3 cars!! This is not mentioned on the website. The club house is mainly childrens club until 9ish and then its variable. There is a small restaurant area and a small arcade although many machines were not working when we was there.
I asked at reception about any local take aways etc and was given one leaflet for an indian restaurant. They didn't seem to have local knowledge such as the fish and chip van which is parked in a carpark next to the site some night.
Nightimes were loud if u tried to get an early night with people shouting around the park especially some private caravans.
The local area is stunning and a lovely place to visit. I would visit the local area again but staying somewhere different as this park is definately not for me or my family.
