We stayed here for my husbands birthday and it was a wonderful few days. We stayed in the inglenook room which was spacious and very clean, we bought our small dog with us and love pet friendly hotels. The shower was a bit small but perfectly functional the only down side is there is not a window to open, there are patio doors but you cant leave those open at night, we turned the radiator off which helped. Breakfast was divine hot and tasty and tea that looked and tasted like tea unlike the dishwater you get in some places. Would return there tomorrow if I could.

Beautiful hotel room and staff , very old 14 th century hotel and rooms to match large rooms with on suite beds that make you drift away and forget the world , parking and a super breakfast honey made on site all adds up to a very delightful stay .
Family run and could not be more helpful and considerate with a honesty bar I think that said the lot . 10/10

We needed to find a wedding venue which was no more than a 30 minute drive from my father-in-law's care home, one that would cater for a small wedding, was still intimate and cosy enough to give us the wedding we wanted and that would work for close family members with little ones where they could put them to bed knowing they would be safe. An awful lot was riding on Strand House fitting the bill as of all the venues in East Sussex/West Kent, it was the only one that appeared to tick all of the boxes so we booked an overnight stay to check it out and arrived with a degree of trepidation as if it didn’t, we had no Plan B!

Thankfully, those boxes were all ticked! Mary, Hugh, Pauline and the team did us proud! They were all so kind, helpful and professional. We took over the whole place and so our family and friends all stayed over. It was a Christmas wedding which was just so special - we were blessed with good weather so we had canapés outside in the garden before sitting down to a mixed platter starter, soup cups, a wonderful roast dinner followed by chocolate pudding or apple crumble with a season twist. The food was divine and Pauline’s mother certainly makes a mean Yorkshire pudding!

Our guests all loved the quirky rooms, it is so full of character and charm and it really was a big hit with everyone. Great location close the Winchelsea beach and also Rye.

We stayed the next night too and wandered into Winchelsea which looked so pretty with it’s advent window trail and pretty sparkling lights. It just all seemed so magical and rounded off our few days perfectly.

We can’t thank Mary, Hugh, Pauline and all the rest of the staff at The Strand House enough. They gave us exactly the wedding we wanted and helped us create perfect memories. We will certainly be back!

Stayed here last weekend in the Inglenook room which was a beautiful room and had a wonderful comfy bed. The only thing was that the shower room was very snug. The breakfasts were really good and the owners and staff were very friendly.

We decided to get married at this beautiful venue that is surrounded by a picturesque nature reserve. We had the most magical time here and celebrated our wedding in a very intimate atmosphere. It was the prefect venue to accommodate our close family and our beloved dog. Everyone absolutely adored the hotel, the rooms, the food and the beautiful garden especially the children. I couldn't have wished for a better place to get ready than their lovely bridal suite. The thoughtfulness, kindness, professionalism and attention to detail of all staff made this day even more special. I can't thank them enough for everything they have done for all of us including how welcoming they were with my family who travelled here from abroad, the children and our pet. Thank you again for making this day unforgettable to us and to all of our guests.
