The building is ancient with winding corridors and individual rooms on many different levels throughout the warren.
I stayed here twice this week and used two different rooms. Both were fitted with 'secondary glazing' which is only slightly better than single glazing. Sun street can be quite lively at night, and there is a fair amount of early traffic also- all of which you can hear.
The bathrooms looked like they had been given a face-lift with new flooring etc, and were largely clean. Shower temperature and pressure were good. Toilet cistern in one room overflowed continually into the bowl making a trickling noise, and to combat this had been set to a very low flow rate, meaning it would take 15mins to fill up again...annoying.
Ceiling in one room had clearly experienced a water leak from the roof above it (old building), and was in need of a bit of tidying up and some paint - not a very clean looking thing on the ceiling.
Breakfast in the morning was excellent, with good fast service despite being pretty full.
The hotel has a good bar which is handy, but you are right in the town center so you have access to so many other places, with wider ranging offerings.
Have stayed here several times before, and will stay again no doubt.More
