Description: "Rustic chic dining where you just won't want to leave" Our bright and contemporary Conservatory restaurant perfectly balances 15th century farmhouse charm with a modern and relaxed dining environment. Whether you want a quick lunch, a bite to eat on the way home from work or to celebrate a special birthday or anniversary, Carol and her front of house team will look after your every need. Our head chef Scott and his brigade have built our reputation as one of the best restaurants in Hertfordshire. All the food is seasonal and our menus change frequently. Using local produce where possible, including game, but occasionally going further afield to get the very best. Redcoats - A place of warmth, precious moments and endless character. Yours to return to, time and time again

“Beautiful setting and fabulous food but service haphazard”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

I took my friend's mum from Australia here for lunch as we wanted somewhere we could sit outside and enjoy the weather without it being too noisy and busy as so many places would be. We were shown to our table straight away but it was 10 minutes or so before they asked about drinks.
The garden is beautiful and peaceful - it would be a lovely setting for a small, intimate wedding reception. We waited quite a while for the food order to be taken but the food when served was delicious and well presented - no small portions here at all. The only thing was the salad was supposed to be dressed but wasn't. We asked for some dressing which seemed to take forever to come and I eventually had to go and ask again! The desserts were also lovely but unfortunately, we felt a little rushed towards the end as my friend had to be away.
would definitely recommend but not when you are on a schedule of any sort - sit back and enjoy the views instead.

“Returning for our first wedding anniversary”

Another wonderful evening spent at Redcoats for our first wedding anniversary. Fantastic food, wonderfully welcoming and attentive staff who were happy to accommodate my specific dietary requirements. A relaxed and beautiful setting, very reasonably priced. Looking forward to our next visit!

“80th Celebration”
Reviewed July 2, 2013

We celebrated mu Mum's 80th at Redcoats and we all thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. The house itself exudes character and we began the afternoon with a champagne toast my the fire in the reception room. The table for 11 was in the conservatory, overlooking the gorgeous gardens. The food and wine were very good, served by attentive staff. The waitress kindly cut the cake which we enjoyed with coffee. My Mum's special day was completed by drinks and a stroll around the gardens which had some beautiful photo opportunities. Many thanks to all the staff.

“Golden Wedding Anniversary”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

My sister and I took our families and Mum and Dad to Redcoats last saturday 22nd June to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary.
The Afternoon Tea was excellent and the staff extremely attentive. My parents were over the moon with the whole experience.
They have had afternoon tea at Luton Hoo on many occasions but said Redcoats was every bit as good if not better.
Thank-you again for a lovely afternoon and for making it a day my parents will never forget.

“Worth paying a premium for”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

Our Sunday lunch started with a warm welcome in the bar with a relaxed g&t while we read the menu and our orders were taken. Once we were seated at our table the service was attentive without being overbearing, the atmosphere was quiet without being uncomfortable and the food was just excellent. I would recommend the very tasty sweet cured herring starter and the medium rare roast beef was perfect. Not the cheapest restaurant around but the welcome, location, service and food make it worth every penny. We will definitely be back again.
