“Warm welcome in the stunning Elan Valley”
Reviewed April 23, 2014

We have stayed at the Elan Valley Hotel numerous time since February 2014. We have purchased a cottage locally that is under renovation. We have used this hotel as our base over the weekends while we work on the cottage.

First of all, the wonderful setting in the Elan Valley is incredible. Elan Valley has to be one of the best kept secrets in the UK. The rooms are very clean with all the typical facilities you would expect. There is a bathroom in every room that we have stayed. Some of the rooms have wonderful views over the hills.

Food is excellent, especially the home cooked English breakfast. The breakfast room is a wonderful setting with huge window allowing the morning sun light to light up the room. It's a great way to start the day. We have also eaten at the hotel bar in the evening and the food is very good. The bar has a good selection of beers to help you unwind on the evenings. We have not had a Sunday lunch yet, but this comes highly recommended by the locals, so we will have to try this at some stage.

The owners and the staff are extremely helpful and pleasant. Everyone is very friendly and look to go the 'extra mile' for their guests. I really do recommend this hotel as a great base to explore Elan Valley and the local area.

Room Tip: English breakfast is a must. Also the food,on the evening is excellent.

We booked a spontaneous 2 night b&b break at this hotel. It is situated in glorious countryside, within easy reach of the spectacular Elan Valley dams, just a few minutes drive from Rhayader. The hotel is spotlessly clean, staff extremely pleasant making sure you are comfortable and ready to help if needed. Breakfast is cooked to perfection, eggs done exactly as requested, bacon excellent just like bacon used to be. We would highly recommend it and hope to return in the summer when we are sure it will be even better when bathed in warm sunshine. Sybaritic Seniors , Carmarthen

Pleasantly surprised with lunch on one of the busiest Sundays of the year.
It was served hot, promptly & good value for money. £7 for adults roast & half price for children.
The dining rooms were spacious, the staff were friendly and the food tasted good.
I would recommend you book, we will be returning :)

Booked for three days and was put in the Disabled Room which, as I am a heart patient , was nice although not requested, (the only room left!). Room was nice, clean and the shower was wonderful. The breakfast was superb, the staff warm and welcoming . I cannot comment on the food or bar as we did not get to use these facilities but I have no doubt they are as described elsewhere. Good new for me is that my T Mobile could not get any signal although my wifes' 3G could. We were unfortunately forced to call a halt to our minor break and our stay due to an emergency and this wonderful place only charged for the one night we had stayed, although I expected to pay for the full three. We will definitely be going again.

we visited as a family and had room 7 - it was lovely and the beds were comfortable with all good facilities. The staff were really friendly and because the hotel wasn't busy we were able to take our evening meals in the room or in the lounge in front of the tv! really good food and lovely real ale! I think we will come back as it is such a good spot to explore this lovely part of wales

Spent a night here in February 2014. A bit tired on the outside, but the room was nicely furnished, very clean and the staff were lovely. We had a bar meal and the food was good with generous portions. The breakfast was lovely!! A full English, but nicely cooked, not all greasy and well presented. Decent coffee. Sat eating breakfast while watching red kites and buzzards circling over the mountain at the back of the hotel. We definitely recommend and would love to go back.

Room Tip: We paid extra to have a room with a bath and it was very welcome after an afternoon sat in the hide...
