“an amazing place to photograph birds”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 24, 2012

After more years than I care to remember, I still had not got a good photograph of a male Common Redstart. I'd heard that there was a reserve in mid-Wales where there was a bird that took mealworms from the hand so I journeyed all the way from Geordie-land and ended up at this perfect, tranquil, isolated piece of heaven. Turning off a main road you travel about 2km on a single track through a lovely Cambrian valley then double back up the side of a hill to the Farm and Visitor Centre. The Warden & his wife are great, coming out to chat and even making great coffee in return for a donation in the visitor's box. Lots of fantastic walks, beautiful scenery an d a warm welcome. What else could you want. Oh yes a Redstart

“Nature at its very best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2012

Well worth a visit - whether for walking, wildlife spotting or photography. Superbly supervised by the on-site Warden & his wife & the staff in the visitor staff. You will find both the warden & his wife very friendly, full of information and very, very knowledgable about the immediate - and no-so immediate - wildlife in the area. A real gem. Warning!! Once you have visited you will be hooked! Please take note although there are no admission charges the site does have honesty boxes dotted around for the car park & toilet - please use them as they are doing such a good job here it would be a shame for selfish people to spoil it for the rest of us who do appreciate what they do.

Very hard to find the visitor centre in the car but the walk made up for it with Stonechat red kite and redstart. Lovely cafe and friendly staff. Go visit

“Watch the Salmon leap!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2012

Unspoilt Mid Wales at it's best. This reserve is run by Radnor Wildlife Trust and is well worth a visit at any time of year, if you go in the late Autumn you may well see the Salmon leaping.

“Breathtaking and charming all at once”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2011

This hidden gem has a variety of habitats and therefore many species to see. We returned a few times during our week holiday. The visitors center is in authentic buildings and was very friendly; information , toilets and snacks available.
