After more years than I care to remember, I still had not got a good photograph of a male Common Redstart. I'd heard that there was a reserve in mid-Wales where there was a bird that took mealworms from the hand so I journeyed all the way from Geordie-land and ended up at this perfect, tranquil, isolated piece of heaven. Turning off a main road you travel about 2km on a single track through a lovely Cambrian valley then double back up the side of a hill to the Farm and Visitor Centre. The Warden & his wife are great, coming out to chat and even making great coffee in return for a donation in the visitor's box. Lots of fantastic walks, beautiful scenery an d a warm welcome. What else could you want. Oh yes a Redstart
