This is a great setting and we had a great lunch.
Walletts Court is opposite a beautiful church and the views of the countryside are equally impressive.
The building itself is fantastic and has been restored sympathetically. We had a very nice drink in the bar before lunch.
In terms of the lunch, it was very good. We went on a Sunday and it was a set lunch. £19 for two courses and £22 for three courses is very sensibly priced for the quality of the food.
It is good to see high quality restaurants doing great set menus at sensible prices.
I had the wild boar salad which was really excellent. This was followed by the venison with chestnuts and roast potatoes which was also extremely nice. For pudding I had fig souffle which was very interesting and well done.
My wife had winter broth, followed by the catch of the day (sole with bisque) and chocolate tart: each of which were excellent.
The staff were attentive and great. In particular Abbie and Sue were excellent.
In summary this is a seriously good restaurant which you should definitely try out, if you are in the area. It is a credit to itself.
