Description: A luxurious menu of modern British cuisine has made the restaurant within the ancient manor house hotel of Wallett's Court in Dover a sumptuous destination in its own right. Robust, inventive flavouring abounds, with accomplished and gutsy cooking producing dishes such as confit of sea bass with sticky port shallots and caramelised noisette potatoes or breast of Gressingham duck with ginger and spring onion rösti. There is a predominantly French wine list, with Sunday lunch and party menu options.

“Fantastic lunch”
Reviewed December 30, 2012 via mobile

This is a great setting and we had a great lunch.

Walletts Court is opposite a beautiful church and the views of the countryside are equally impressive.

The building itself is fantastic and has been restored sympathetically. We had a very nice drink in the bar before lunch.

In terms of the lunch, it was very good. We went on a Sunday and it was a set lunch. £19 for two courses and £22 for three courses is very sensibly priced for the quality of the food.

It is good to see high quality restaurants doing great set menus at sensible prices.

I had the wild boar salad which was really excellent. This was followed by the venison with chestnuts and roast potatoes which was also extremely nice. For pudding I had fig souffle which was very interesting and well done.

My wife had winter broth, followed by the catch of the day (sole with bisque) and chocolate tart: each of which were excellent.

The staff were attentive and great. In particular Abbie and Sue were excellent.

In summary this is a seriously good restaurant which you should definitely try out, if you are in the area. It is a credit to itself.

“HArd Time”
Reviewed October 24, 2012

With a spa hotel and restaurant the expectations were high. With a set menu at a fairly high price especially if you did not book in advance it was a little underwhelming. Not to our taste as there are better venues within the local area with far better offerings.

“Nice for afternoon tea!”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

Have had a couple of nice afternoon teas here with v generous servings. Great scones! However I wold say it is nicer if you can go in summer and have tea outside as this is lovely. The second time we went, it was raining and we were the only ones in a rather massive dining room. Staff on duty were terribly friendly and helpful Haven't been to the spa yet but my friend said she had a first rate massage there

“Nice rooms shame about the food.”
Reviewed September 20, 2012

Liked the ambience and the rooms but food very average, the spa and pool was OK, the food very plain and for a high quality hotel was not up to it. The bar area very pleasant, service very good.
