Description: A luxurious menu of modern British cuisine has made the restaurant within the ancient manor house hotel of Wallett's Court in Dover a sumptuous destination in its own right. Robust, inventive flavouring abounds, with accomplished and gutsy cooking producing dishes such as confit of sea bass with sticky port shallots and caramelised noisette potatoes or breast of Gressingham duck with ginger and spring onion rösti. There is a predominantly French wine list, with Sunday lunch and party menu options.

I have been here sevenor eight times. The quality of the food is fantastic, however, unless you like rice, not much choice for vegetarians. What is it with East Kent, do they not realise there are thousands of vegetarians out there. I WANT to go to Walletts Court, but am put off by the choice available. My friends who come with me rave about the food, I probably would if I ate meat, please, please think of us veggies!

I had the chicken for dinner one evening, and it was one of the most tasty and delicious I've had in some time.

Pulled into Wallett's Court for a quick lunch when house-hunting. Welcoming fire in the bar, appetising, well presented food and fascinatingly quirky building. No idea of what the rooms are like, but enjoyed the restaurant.

The restaurant offers the choice of two courses for £34.95, or three for £39.95, so it's clearly not at the budget end of the dining scale; however, the food is appetisingly presented and bursting with flavour. Locally-sourced ingredients are widely used, to excellent effect. Definitely worth splashing out after a hard day's lounging around in the hotel spa's jacuzzi and sauna.
