“Great cakes!”
Reviewed November 27, 2012

Wonderful view, great cakes and freshly brewed tea. Toilets are extremely attentive - as long as they're not too busy!

“Such a great place for a cuppa”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

Once you have done the walk or short drive to the monument, these tea rooms are lovely. We sat outside on an unusually warm and clear November day and had tea and toasted teacakes - yum!!

“Hidden gem.”
Reviewed October 31, 2012

Hidden away at the end of Granville Road which turns into an unmade road, then a lane which peters out at the car park for the Dover Patrol Monument. Not a lot of parking, can get busy at peak times. Great place for a walk along the cliffs with fantastic views, then refreshments at this old coastguard station. Not very big and only has a few tables outside. Inside it can get cramped if all tables are occupied. We had tea and cakes from a nice selection of home-made stuff - all excellent. The menu looks good with a range of sandwiches and snacks. Not sure if this stays open all year round, but imagine it would do fine at weekends throughout the winter.

“Ok, now I'm letting the secret out!”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

I've known about this place for years, but have never reviewed it because I didn’t want to spoil it. However, after my last visit I felt that locals are keeping this gem to themselves and it has to be enjoyed by all. It really is a national treasure of Great Britain.

Firstly you can hardly find it unless you know where to look. Best way? Just head for the huge obelisk, which is a memorial to the Dover Patrol of 1914-1945. A long time ago I drove up this road that turns into a dirt road, just to see this monument, and then found tea lovers heaven.

Blue Bird Tea House is perched on top of a cliff edge, with views that reach across to France. The view is simply breath taking and the atmosphere and area around you haven’t changed for fifty years. This is real England.

The tea is always good, fresh and well brewed, served in quality crockery. The scones and cakes are all homemade. Fantastic.

One point, the staff were getting a tiny bit sloppy last time I was there, gossiping about local issues, who's dating who etc. Time they had a bus load of tourists to wake them up! Just look at my photographs and you'll see what a magnificent place this is. Enjoy!
