“Very pleasant stay.”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

This was a surprise for my wife for our anniversary and it delivered what I wanted. I was a bit of an awkward customer as I had to change the date and the party number but it was never a problem for them and the communication was wonderful. Although its no fault of yellowtop themselves I would have expected the park to have been better signposted. As I almost drove straight past it. However once we arrived I was over the moon with the lodge. Perfectly situated on the lake and very clean and modern. The beds were lovely and the champagne/chocolates and rose petals were laid out beautifully . There was plenty cutlery and utensils for us to have a good breakfast and the hot tub was well looked after and was really fun. The only disappointment was coming home. We are already looking to come back for a longer period. Perhaps in the summer. Thankyou for making our 4th anniversary a spacial one!

The setting was wonderful, very serene. Great area with lots to do, some nice walks and a lovely hot tub to come back to. The decor in the lodge we stayed in was very dated, it had some bits of modern furniture but was mainly a mismatch of styles that didn't look good together and the suite came out of the seventies. Definitely in need of updating. Saying that the break was relaxing which is what we wanted.

We booked this place as a base to explore Yorkshire. Fairly central for the coast and the dales / moors and of course close to York as my son and I being Barnet supporters wanted to go to the game in York.... A win started the break perfectly!
We arrived at our lodge at about 7.00, after parking the car at the Designer Outlet Park and Ride for the day. Although it was a cold day the lodge was lovely and warm, and so nice to arrive and walk straight in.
The hot tub was ready and didnt take long to slip in there..this was subsequently used every morning and evening. Waking up on Sunday and seeing the lake for the first time was lovely, aided by a beautiful sunrise. The rooms were very comfortable, beds were lovely, shower was a little slow and the hot water didnt last long but this is due to it being from a tank. Overall an absolutely fantastic place which I would recommend to anyone.

We just got back from our two night stay in the Wild Oats, Premier lodge 17. We couldn't have had a better time! Everything was fantastic; starting with just being able to drive up to our lodge, get the keys from the front door and start enjoying straight away without having to wait in the reception, fill in forms and waste time. The lodge was beautifully decorated and obviously very well looked after to a high standard. Everything was immaculately clean and well presented. The furnishings were up to a high standard and cosy. Cooking facilities were very good, better than we expected and they had everything you'd need for a self catering trip (including washing up liquid, dish clothes, bin bags and other essentials.) The highlight of the trip for us was the king sized four poster bed and the amazing hot tub outside! The bed was the comfiest I've ever slept on; a giant, memory foam one with beautiful bedding and drapes at the sides. Outside in the private decking area there was the hot tub which had already been turned on and prepared for our arrival. It was easily the best part of the lodge, extremely relaxing and romantic :)
Couldn't recommend YellowTop more! We will definitely be back and have already started planning our next visit. Absolutely in love with the place :)

Room Tip: We're sure all the lodges are nice...but premier 17 was perfect!

We chose Yellowtop as a base to visit York with our kids (7 & 4) and it's only 25 minutes to the Park&Ride at the Designer Outlet Mall then another 10 minutes on the efficient bus. We like our self-catering holidays and are quite independent so the lodge was perfect for us - all of the essentials and clean! The bed linen was nice and all of the utensils and cooking equipment were in good order. The shower was reasonably pathetic and the hot water struggled at times but everything can’t be perfect, especially when it’s such good value.

Unless you like fishing there really isn't anything to do at the park but that's fine by us as it was winter and the main attraction was York after all. The free eggs were great though :-)

There are a couple of small shops close by in Holme-on-Spalding-Moor but only use them for emergency items as it’s pretty expensive. Best off bringing your food with you or venturing further afield to a proper supermarket. We did try the local chippy one night and were rather disappointed. I don’t know if we were unlucky but the chips tasted of burnt oil and you needed a microscope to see the fish! Not the legendary Yorkshire Fish & Chips we were expecting :-(

Happy to reccommend for a winter or spring break with the kids but you might want somewhere with more activites in the summer (unless you really like fishing)

Hi there :)

Thank you for your 4* review, and i'm glad to hear that you had everything you needed in your lodge.
I do go to the local fish and chip shop myself and they're always very nice! Unfortunately it seems like you just got caught as the unlucky ones!

Kind Regards,
Sophie

Just spent 3 nights in Wild oats cabin,1 bedroom with hottub.Very relaxing stay, some noise from the main road, but not to loud.
Good location to get to other areas like York etc.
The cabin is cosy and everything required for your stay, but i would say that it is probably time for a bit of a upgrade.
I wouldn,t go into detail because i believe you could find fault in anything if you wanted to.
The hottub worked fantastically, but again probably making the surrounding of it with a little thought in to making it a bit more pleasing to the eye.
Overall we had a very relaxing enjoyable stay.
