The house is situated in a fantastic location on the Antrim coast, great for walking along the coast or step outside to the beaches. The house was ideal for our 3 generations with lots of room for dining and relaxing. Terrific outlook to the sea. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the house, the locality and the general Co Antrim coastal area. Arrangements for arriving at the house were spot on and Paula, who looks after it was very helpful, thank you.
This house was perfect for our "three generation" family holiday. There was more space available than our party of 12 required. The dining area is enormous, the kitchen extremely well equiped (including an Aga) there's a parlour with a fine piano (well tuned!) a 2nd floor TV /movie room, and a 3rd floor indoor playroom for the occasional rainy day.
I suspect the home was built in Port Rush as a Victorian Seaside Guest House, and it looks across a small road at the sea, with rocks, tides and beaches where children can safey play. Port Rush, near to Bushmills, is nicely located in Northern Ireland's Antrim province. From this home we were able to schedule day trips every day of our holiday, but there are so many wonderful historical sites to view that it will take several visits to see them all.
So whether we wanted to walk by the sea, feed our gang, shelter and visit inside this grand old home or set out to explore, we were well served by Alt na Craig.
Thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful house which provided excellent accommodation for extended family allowing us to stay together. The location was ideal for us and being able to bring our beloved dogs was the icing on the cake. All the family enjoyed the holiday and we would be hoping to book again next year.
Ideal location for exploring the north coast, Giant's Causeway etc. Good sized bedrooms and kitchen / dining room with table to fit at least 12 around! Portballintrae is a quiet, coastal village but close enough to larger towns/villages if needed.
