My husband and I stayed 2 nights the last week of March 2014 and WOW. The weather was beautiful, sunny and dry, and we were booked in a room overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Worth the extra cost for the balcony.

The bed was the most comfortable of all of the hotels we visited. The room was spacious, the bathroom clean. Nice fluffy towels and fragrance toiletries. The coat hooks on the wall was a nice touch.

We dined one night in the restaurant and the food was delicious. After we took our coffee in the bar and sat by the peat fire. So romantic.

Every bit a dream to stay there....we will be back.

Room Tip: If you stay out late let reception know first. We were almost locked out when we came in about midni...

Portballintrae must be the town that time forgot! While we visited in March 2014 there was no-one there! There is no shop, no postbox just rows and rows of empty holiday homes.
Luckily we were looking for a quiet night so that was great. We'd spent the day looking at the local attractions and got to the hotel about 4ish. Check in seemed easy and our room 206 was massive ( close to the size of my flat in Edinburgh) sadly for the bayview hotel there was no view of the bay. To be fair we had guessed as much from their website but we got a view of the fire escape and car park.
Dinner was a simple affair - we both had steak. Mine was burnt but I did ask for well done so I shouldn't complain (and didn't !)
The bed was huge and firm, the room was warm and everything was spotless. Slept well and no noise from other rooms.
Breakfast was very disappointing though. Instead of a continental we opted for "something hearty" but 2 rashers of bacon and A sausage is not a hearty start to the day for two strapping lads. I had scrambled egg with mine which was awful. The tea was fine but the toast was cold.
All in - the hotel is nice and clean, the staff are fine if a little brisk but the food is average in my opinion.

Dear Shug17, thank you for composing a review on TA about your experience at Bayview. Portballintrae is a fantastic little village, a Post box is located just 200m from the hotel and the local shop is just around the corner, situated at the west car park over looking the beautiful small beach. Portballintrae is only 2 minutes from Bushmills village by car or 10mins walk, where a number of varied shops and Post Office is located.
At Breakfast we offer for starters of a complete range of cereals, fruit juices, mixed fresh fruit, yogurts, cheeses, followed by a full cooked breakfast consisting of various choices, all inclusive in the B&B price.
Kind Regards,
Trevor and Team Bayview, Portballintrae.

Stayed at the Bayview on Sunday last. It is years since I last stayed in it. I can only say it is a lovely hotel. Absolutely immaculate, lovely furnishings, spacious room, great food, friendly staff and a wonderful sea view. What more could one want!? I thought it was excellent value for money. We had booked bed and breakfast and then choose to eat in the hotel on the Sunday night. The meal and service were excellent and well priced. Considering the restaurant was packed I was very pleased with the service. There was a lovely buzz about the place. There were numerous vases of yellow roses, lilies and daffodils around the place which were lovely. Lots of brochures of places to visit
locally are displayed. I cannot wait to go back.

My husband and I stayed in the Bayview Hotel as the first few days of our Mini-Honeymoon. Booked through their own website as part of a package - Bushmills Experience. Such fantastic value for money that we opted to upgrade to a superior room. Deal included two nights B&B and one evening meal and the tickets for the Bushmills Distillery. The room was spotless and spacious, the breakfast was spot on and the dinner was amazing - we both had steaks which were perfectly cooked and very generous in portion. All the staff were really helpful and very nice to deal with. Even though the weather was bad (late February), it was still a beautiful area to stay in. Would definitely stay there again and would recommend to others.

Room Tip: If you choose a superior room, you have view of the bay. (not sure you get the view with a standard...

Just back from our spring break with family and as always, staff, restaurant and rooms were excellent. We are always welcomed with a smile and friendly chat and service is always top notch. We come twice a year for a few days and enjoy the food and the craic.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front with a sea view are special.

never been to Portballintrae, never heard of the Bayview hotel but now it's a new place to stop in at. We stayed in a Superior Room and it was amazing, bed was very firm but I had such a sleep! The view was great, we just left the balcony door open in the evening and listened to the waves crashing on the shore. The hotel itself was very nice, free wifi, parking at the back (if you can get a space), warm even in winter, room was massive, bathroom was also big, whirlpool bath was wick, not something that would sway me to make any decisions, I tried it out and it was wick, the shower was the same, not very powerful and if your 5 & foot and taller then you'll struggle washing hair and showering normal.

If the shower was a proper power shower and higher up, my time at Bayview would have been 5stars, but because of this, it gets 4stars. I'll defiantly be back at some stage.

Room Tip: out of all the rooms (standard, superior & premier), the Superior Room is the only room with the...
