The Greyhound Inn

This is the first time I have ever worked away from home and to stay at the Greyhound hotel for 6 months as been an experience I will never forget. The rooms are very comfortable and cleaned every day. The food is fantastic I can't remember a bad meal whilst been there thank you to the chef's Nana,Jo and Louis. What can I say about the manager and bar staff would not be enough they all make you feel so welcome and at home EVERY NIGHT at the Greyhound. thank you Ben and your staff Alexander, Regan, Heather, Hayley, Tom, and Sam. You would have to go and check the Greyhound Hotel out if you are near the area you will not be disappointed.
This is the first place I will stay if in the area again with out a doubt.

I have stayed here a few times with work as it is a great location outside of central London. The rooms are small and compact but they have everything you need. The shower is great and beds are comfy. This hotel is set in a beautiful old building and the rooms have lovely original features. With an old building comes thin walls and windows. There is some noise from downstairs and the if people are outside you can hear everything. I personally did not mind the noise but if you are looking for a quiet room then you probably won't get it here.

The food, wine and service is excellent and they have a great menu choice. The place feels very homely and the staff go out of their way to look after you.

The whole place is tired and needs a complete refurb, the staircase sounds like it's about to collapse, you would not want to be in a room near it, as it makes so much noise. The decor is tired. The carpets are stained, our bathroom shower door was hanging off.

If you are looking for a 1 star place to stay, this would be perfect, but not at £75.00 a night, I would say its worth about £50.00.

I thought the breakfast would rescue the the overall opinion of this hotel, but as with the rest of the hotel was awful.

A refurb and attention to detail would make this a lovely place to stay as the staff are very friendly.

I stayed at the Greyhound this year for 6 months while working on a project in the area and I must say it is a great hotel. The staff are outstanding, led by the manager Ben. Ben makes everybody feel welcome with his relaxed attitude and friendly nature. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Liz, Sam, Heather, Regan all are very professional and attentive. The food is also one of the reasons I enjoyed my stay. The a la carte menu is excellent in particular the posh pie, fish and chips and the homemade burger.
Overall it is a 10 out of 10 and if I am back in the area again for either business or vacation I would definetly make the Greyhoun Inn my base.

The Greyhound Inn organized a delicious breakfast and lunch for my colleagues on a shoot, leading to a happy team! Providing a wonderful selection of buffet choices at the last minute, the whole team were thoroughly pleased with the fresh and flavoursome food. Look forward to eating with them again soon! :)

Room Tip: The cheesecake desert is amazing!

Went with family for second time to the Greyhound for Sunday lunch. Interesting menu with a couple of interesting new things as well as classics. Starters very good and capably prepared. Roasts were excellent, best of all was the Leek and Ham pie (Pithiver , or posh pie). Very well done, tasty and filling. All that one asked for!
Service was slow and would be a problem if there was a rush on.
Overall a very good value, fresh local restaurant.

We arrived at The Greyhound Inn to be greeted by very charming and polite staff. Once checked in we decided to sit in the bar and enjoy a relaxing afternoon. The lunch menu is limited, but that is not a bad thing at all. We found that our choice of lunch was very good. The wine was very pleasant, a bit pricey for what it was, but nonetheless it was what we wanted so we enjoyed the afternoon.
However the rooms are a little disappointing, we were above the bar but the noise was not a distraction. When the rooms are cleaned they need to be given a bit more attention to detail. For instance, there were 2 curtain rings that had come detached from the curtains, leaving the curtain hanging lose at the edge, not a difficult task to undertake and correct. The doors all have beading that were dusty and again a little attention to detail would not go amiss. The brass fittings were all quite dusty, as were all the lamps. The windows were also quite dirty when cleaning the bathroom it is advisable to close the door and clean behind it rather than leave the open allowing dust and cobwebs to be missed when cleaning. The carpet on the stairs needs to be repaired/replaced as is threadbare in places and quite unsightly.
We had dinner in the restaurant part of the hotel. Again menu is a little limited but what we did order was very good, we have no complaints with regard to this. Wine list was reasonably priced for a restaurant, as opposed to a drink in the bar. Staff very friendly and attentive, however I do feel that shorts with a tea towel tucked in at the back does not really present as suitable attire for working in a restaurant which does provide good quality food. There was another table that had a valid complaint about how something was cooked and the staff, although were apologetic, made some very basic errors in how they addressed it, leaving a very upset diner.
All in all food was of a good standard but hotel rooms need some attention to basic housekeeping as well as updating.
