“Love the new Chandelier”

My family went to the chandelier, having been before I was shocked at how nice it looks now... Food has always been great and prices are reasonable for the quality you get. Staff are also very friendly and make time for you

“Always enjoyable”
Reviewed January 19, 2013

I've been eating at the Chandelier ever since it opened (a couple of decades now) and it has never failed to provide both good service and good food. The take-away food is exactly the same high quality as you get for a sit-in meal, and delivered promptly, too. Always worth a visit.

“Superb”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

Can't really add much to the excellent reviews already on here! Went a few years ago and while we thought it was OK it was nothing special, and we have been going to the Bengal on a Sunday instead.

Decided to give them another go last night as boyfriend had seen that they were advertising a new menu. Fabulous surprise to see the everyday offer as mentioned below for £14.95 a head which is good value.

Fair to say the first waiter wasn't very knowledgable, and we found another one a bit ignorant but when the manager came over to take our order he was excellent. Recommended an alternative fish dish for starter and wasn't pushing us to order anything in addition to the £14.95 deal.

Only negative (and we did mention this to the manager as well), was that the pickle tray with the pop's is excellent, but 3 out of 4 of the pickles were spicy, which means you were left with only mango chutney if you didn't like too much spice. We recommended they offer the yoghurt dip as an alternative to one of the pickles.

And because of the ignorant waiter it was a bit difficult to get a second drink. And they need some more descriptions on some of the starters. We forgave both easily as the food was fantastic.

So the food. If you like fish, you must have Tawa Fish starter - absolutely excellent, I'd have had that as a main course! Boyfriend had the Haryali Chicken starter which was equally brilliant. Slow cooked lamb curry and the one with the cashew nut paste for main – both excellent. Great size portions with plenty of meat in both. Would probably order a veg side next time as neither curry had any veg in it. Mushrooms in the rice were gorgeous – really tasty.

We were only saying that day that it would be lovely if restaurants would offer fish as an option in the standard curries .... and the chandelier do!! Might try next time.

So in short. Head & shoulders above the Bengal (sorry guys), not tried the Bombay Spice nor the new place, but while the reviews for the new place are excellent, the Chandelier has to be giving them a run for their money with simply excellent food.

We will be back, which is surely the best recommendation you can give a restaurant!! Keep it up!

“What a change”
Reviewed January 10, 2013

We are avid indian fans and despite afew closures in long eaton of some good take aways the restaurant scene has been okay but nothing special. Bengal always set a standard especially for value on a sunday n bombay looked the biz but couldnt come close on food despite a msnagement change ..who now always seem to be sat at the bar texting boyfriends / husbands !!! tonight due to new job on monday after a while redundant we hit the superb white lion at sawley for a few real ales n ciders thrn decided to hit the chandelier after 2 years away n seeing their 'new menu' sign. What a change !!! new furniture n lights , n dispite a new waiter who didnt know the menu we soon had a very nicr n inteligent young waiter only too happy to help. The menu was smart fresh but with the traditional options still there. We had a combination of a fish n chicken start then a lamb then chicken cashew n saffron main ..all ill say is best curry for years ..even the house shiraz went down a treat ...at the moment pops..chutney..any starter...main(bar k prawn) any rice or nan ...coffee and icr cream £14.95 ANY day as in ANY!!!
cant wait to go back despite new indian opening on high street getting good reviews..this place has changed and we now have sorrily switched our curry house to chandelier
