Enjoyed a great lunch on the patio on a beautiful day. I had the surf and turf (6 oz sirloin plus crab legs) and for only $22 you honestly won't find better value anywhere. The meal was excellent. On Saturday afternoons, they're now hosting live music on the patio as well. Two men -- one on guitar and one on banjo -- played thoroughly enjoyable music that wasn't too loud but, instead, provided the perfect backdrop to the perfect lunch

Our fourth child has just had her wedding at the Island Grill and was happy with the venue and the help that Sam was able to provide. The evening was a great success. We had met with Mark 3-4 times to go over costs and expectations. All seemed fine. Then the bill arrives! We were 'accidently' charged a 15% gratuity on the tent rental..only a $230 over-charge. We were charged for 4 bottles of wine per table (60 bottles) when , in fact, well under 40 were used. These overcharges were reluctantly adjusted to the bill! We were charged $207 plus tax for 2 dozen Costco muffins and coffee to feed 60 guests. It was to be a simple but homemade breakfast. Only one guest was able to find the 'breakfast' as it was not served in the dining room but hidden in a small anti-room. When asked for an account of the bar bill, it seemed that the bartender had taken her figures home and no attempt was made by Mark to explain or account for the final figure. We were not given any tally or count of what was consumed as you would expect when an open bar is provided. The gross 'padding' of the final bill left a rather bitter taste in our mouth after the good food of the wedding. The final cost was more than $40 per guest when compared to our wedding last year which also had a spectacular setting, beautiful and plentiful food, and excellent accounting! The Island grill is a lovely spot for a wedding, but be warned of the 'creative accounting'!

Ambitious menu..most works well but some doesn't ...wings, especially Tuesday wing nite, pizzas are sure things, bi manh sandwich is excellent..however Pho on Stony Lake is lacking...no surprise there. Kudos for trying.

My daughter and I heard through the grape vine in Peterborough that Burleigh Island Lodge had just reopened in the last week (back in June 2013). We had been searching for a wedding reception location for another daughter and most all reasonably priced venues had been booked the year before. We drove straight up to the Island Grill Restaurant as we had eaten there before it's closing so many years before and loved the decor/atmosphere of the lodge. We spoke with restaurant (operator/chef) Mark Anderson and inquired as to the availability of hosting a wedding in September. He assured us that it would be available and that he had lots of experience at other venues that he has worked at. We set the day and talked about menu selection over the next few of months. The service was amazing and the food was excellent. The wedding was awesome and we were able to take many pictures around the lodge as well. We would recommend this venue for your next family/business event. Mark was also able to provide some gluten free options for the bride. Many of our family stayed overnight at the lodge and Mark provided an excellent breakfast for our guests to enjoy before heading home from a beautiful weekend in the Kawartha Lakes Region.
