I have been going to Les Carroz for a number of years for short Ski breaks. Transfer from Geneva airport is just an hour. I stayed at this Hotel when it was called the Bois de la Char and it was not what you would call classy. It has been transformed into a truly excellent establishment. The rooms are newly modernised and very comfortable; the food is very good; It retains its ski in ski out status; the one thing that remains are the friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended.

We have just come back from a great weekend staying at the Milk Hotel. The hotel rooms are very clean and comfortable. The bar area is very relaxing with the roaring log burning stove. Our stay included Dinner B&B. The food was very good. We had a great choice of of pastries, home made jams, cereals and breads for breakfast and evening meals were very tasty traditional food. There was a short 5-10mins walk into town in the evening. The location of the hotel ski in ski out is perfect.
The staff at the hotel were very accomodating and the service was excellent.
We didn't book our transfers through the hotel but would recommend doing that for convenience, we will be doing that next time week go.
We would thoroughly recommend it and will most probably be going back next week year.

This was my second visit to the hotel, we booked a mid-week 4 night break.

The hotel is simple, rustic, understated and really charming. Christophe and his team were very friendly and attentive, and the location, well it just couldn't be better.

The room was charmingly simple, spacious, warm with a cosy and comfortable bed, and lovely cotton sheets and soft pillows.

I had a double room on single occupancy, and although a small additional charge was made, it was surprisingly reasonable.

A great little hotel, that doesn't break the budget.

Just returned from a 5 night stay at the Milk Hotel in Les Carroz. We went at half term with two boys aged 8 and 16. Paid about £300 per night for DBB staying in the junior suite. The rooms are very nice although 4 people in the suite made it very cramped but it was OK. The food was a set menu each night and was generally very good but disappointed that they didn't offer any child portions or children's food - so lots of it went to waste. The public area lounge was nice and friendly with free WIFI and a nice fire. Good bar as well and all the staff were very helpful and friendly throughout our stay. The Hotel is actually on the ski slope, which is great for mosrt skiiers but not if you have any beginers with you as it's a red run and the alternative is to walk back up from the gondola which takes about 15 mins. We never felt the need to go down into Les Carroz on a night, but if we had it would have been about a 15 minute walk down the winding roads and the a long walk back up the hill.
Overall a very nice Hotel run by very nice staff and Christophe the owner.

This was the first time we had organised our own ski holiday so we were a bit nervous, but this hotel and the excellent service of the owner, Christophe, made it without doubt our best ski holiday ever. We stayed 9/2/12 to 16/2/12 - across the half term hols . From the initial planning Christophe was helpful - he organised the transfer, the skis in Abondance - he even drove down to the ski shop to take my wife and luggage up, whilst the ski rental owner also then drove me and two kids ( and skis up)! ( as the taxi driver was under pressure for his next pick up)

So the hotel - is very quirky - as some reviewers have said don't be put off by the (-1) entrance - once you get to reception on floor 3 the ambience kicks in - it is like the Ikea people have done a set for their new catalogue: but in a good way!! It just feels so right; so relaxing. It is just pitched right - the wood, the wood burner, the restaurant, the bar, the breakfast room - all very intimate. All wood, rugs, greys and relaxtion- Our room was a mezzo room -on the 5th floor perfect for us and the kids - plenty of storage - and wow - what a view of the red down to the foot of the bar

But what then made this place really special was the food and service - I don't know where Christophe found his chef but wow - what excellent food, from the traditional cheese and beef through to duck with pear gratin - I would go far as to say best food I have had on a ski holiday bar none - you have no choices but what the heck it makes you try food you might to otherwise!! Some of the desserts were heaven

Every morning an organic brekkie - then out down a gentle green to the gondola - home at 5 down the nice blue plein soleil onto the red for home - I just can't wait to be back - well done Christophe and all the waiting and cooking staff - this is just a brilliant little hidden gem - at the risk of making it too busy - it is fab you just have to try. We can't wait to get back now - I am already looking at flights from Ireland for next year

Room Tip: We had room 58 - super - even supplied with a nice aroma from the wood burner in the reception below...

When looking for a hotel for a short ski break in early Feb, this one ticked the boxes. We had eaten here on a number of occasions since the hotel was refurbished for last season and always enjoyed the lunches and the friendly service. The new decor is lovely in the communal areas, and I don't think I've ever has such fantastic jam on my morning croissant! Our inclusive evening meal was good and certainly far better than other half board options we have had in other french ski hotels. I think the owners are really working hard to make what was a tired old hotel into something new and successful and should be applauded for it.

Some things are a little quirky. The corridor to our room was dark and unheated with timed lighting, so you exit your room or the lift into pitch darkness most of the time. (The chilliness may have had something to do with the fact that the outside temperatures were minus 22c) The boot and ski room clearly has not been tarted up since the new owners took over. The hotel is built into the side of the hill. The entrance at the bottom of the hotel where you park (not the one from the piste side) does not reflect the smarter bit piste side.

We had room 22 with a village view on the 2nd floor. The decor was nice, but the finishes were a little rough around the edges in places-so we had a nice bath with a shower, but the glass shower screen wouldn't stay shut over the edge of the bath. There were no glasses in the room. These are small things however! My guess is that the refurbishment budget needs to be topped up before they deal with the remaining bits (like the fact that the name on the back of the hotel overlooking the village is the old hotel name).

Great location, bottom of red run and short green down to bubble.
Fantastic management and staff, great bar, good food
Our 8th year here. Skiing in the trees or higher in Flaine. Beginners to off piste monsters, all are catered for!
We'll be back next year

Welcome to the Milkhotel, a hotel and restaurant at the foot of the slopes of Les Carroz. The idea of creating something different, less hectic and more responsible, and the quest for quality, simplicity and the satisfaction of your expectations and those of your children has today given birth to the MILKHOTEL. The new, resolutely contemporary setting has still kept the atmosphere and warmth of a mountain chalet. And it's just like being in a true chalet: on the slopes, at the foot of the slopes, skis on the feet, ski in ski out... all that you could possibly want from a ski resort. In the heart of an extraordinary ski area, you and your children are just a hop and a skip away from the world of mountains and skiing. ... more   less
