Ok, so I thought I was prepared for the black sand but apparently I wasn't ;)
Yes it does get hot and yes it can burn but you do get use to it. The first few steps are ok, but the more you take the hotter it gets. Once you are in the water it's fine - just get your husband to go and get some footwear for your journey back :)
Once you're in the water it's lovely and cool, but beware, there is a big rock shelf that is slippy - apart from that it's lovely water to relax and swim in.
The umbrellas and beds are not free, you have to spend a minimum of around €15 each at one of the bars/restaurants to use them "for free"
Also, something else to point out, as you're walking along the sidewalk you just get pestered and pestered by the waiters telling you that you get to use the umbrellas and chairs for free - then when you've sat down they then tell you the catch of a minimum spend!!
