The hotel has lost it's charm over the years. It probably used to look beautiful 10 years ago but lack of maintenance makes the place look bad. Rooms are fine though, they are clean and comfortable. Food is ok and staff is friendly. For us it was overpriced though.

Koh Ngai is a amazing island though and we wouldn't have missed it for the world. The Thanya Resort could have looked better but it did not stop us from having a wonderful time on the island!

Beautifully located at the end of the beach, Thanya offers a relaxing atmosphere. We went on a Four Islands tour and decided then and there that we would stay a couple of nights at Koh Ngai.
We were picked up from our ferry by longtail boat and dropped off at the beach. At the reception we received drinks whilst going through the check-in process. We decided to splurge and get a Beachfront Villa, which was located about 15-20 meters from the beach. I'm guessing we got a family room of sorts since it had two double beds. Room was spotlessly clean and was kept so for the duration of our stay (3 nights). A small patio with two chairs and a table outside the room. Unfortunately the pathway to the restaurant went right outside of our room so there was not as much privacy as you'd might expect from a Beachfront Villa.

Not an unlimited amount of sunbeds available, but as long as you get up in time you should be able to get one. Pool and outdoor showers were great! Staff was very friendly and some spoke English, although most staff will greet you in English they don't actually speak any. Restaurant serves good thai food and some western food we didn't try. Also, they play the same CD of easy-listening western pop songs over and over again. There's a restaurant further up the beach that serves good food at lower prices. If you're heading there for dinner, remember to bring a flashlight as there's little to no lighting on the beach apart from the resorts. Also the sand on this particular beach can make it a tough walk.

Snorkeled by the beach one day and had to pay to rent a mask and fins, which honestly I think should have been included in the price.
This hotel really tries their best to make you feel at home, but throw out the western music and play some chill thai music in the restaurant instead and let the staff that doesn't speak English greet you in thai.

All in all it was a great stay and I would definitely stay here again!

We were here during the low season and it was amazing. We stayed at the beach front bungalow which included a hearty, delicious breakfast and had the long stretch of white sandy beach all to ourselves. For activities, ask H and he will hook you up with a day trip to Emerald cove, which must not be missed! A resort with excellent service and a very peaceful place, you could practically hear the waves crashing from your bedroom. Though the price is a little higher during the low season but my friends and I agreed that it was worth it.

We had a nice bungalow close to the garden. The place is beautiful right on a nice beach (very small at high tide as everywhere on the island). And very peaceful, very few people and no cars, noise etc. But... The prices even at low season are twice as much compared e.g. with ko lanta. The staff is just doing their work and not interested. The prices for food are very high, and they add up on this island 10% service tax and 7% vat (first time in thailand I noticed). Leaving to ko lanta cost you thb 2500,-, try to find other travelers to share. And on a longtail boat, be prepared to get wet, very wet. The beach on the island is very poluted where there is no resort, they do not care as long as the tourist come. It is a pitty because the place itself is as mentioned beautiful and peaceful.

Finally stayed on Koh Ngai after having been here before on the 4 island tour. Walked up to Thanya and they gave us two beach front bungalow for a very good price, breakfast included.

Right in front in the water are pretty good corals to snorkel, easily reachable at low tide. Great beach to stroll, Thanya being at thr southern most tip of the beach. The Bobs, 5 of us now, had a great time...

In low season (May) this resort was gorgeous, white sand, very quiet (we seemed to be the only guests on the main beach at times!) and our room was lovely (albeit with the odd bug, but if you don't like bugs don't stay on a tropical island!). Our only complaints about the resort are that:
a) the food is very overpriced (and there is a little note at the back - not the front - of the menu informing you of a service charge on top too... crazy prices of around 200 baht a dish).
b) at times there was the smell of burnt plastic as the resort seems to burn its rubbish which is both bad for the guests and the environment.

We recommend:
a) taking food from the mainland like noodles so you can eat at a reasonable price (all the resorts there charged way too much)
b) speak to other guests if you want to go on a boat trip as its charged per boat/trip, so with more people it's cheaper (we visited koh ma where we snorkelled with black tip reef sharks - amazing :)

We stayed in Thanya over Songkran break. It is quiet and peaceful with nothing much going on which is perfect if you are looking for a relaxed getaway. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to make sure our stay was pleasant. The beach in front of the property is clean and stunning! The pool is also a nice option. There were a few minor flaws with the rooms and the property such as broken beach chairs, or loose tiles in the bathroom and pool area, but it isn't anything a bit of maintenance couldn't fix. Wifi is only available in the restaurant area, but since our room was located close to the restaurant we had a decent signal in our room too. The beach view bungalows are worth the extra money as the views are stunning. We were glad to have chosen to stay here over any other place on this beach. It is a nice piece of paradise without the crowds and the noise.
