“Don't miss staying here”

We stayed at the Inn at the Cape for two nights and enjoyed meeting the owners, Peter & Jenny, and their son, Michael, who did the cooking this summer. We found them to be interesting, knowledgeable of the area, and generous with their time. They don't fuss over their guests but are very happy to assist when asked. Their Inn is filled with books, paintings, and games for a rainy day. It has a very homey, comfortable feel. The various dishes prepared were creative and flavourful. This was our fourth vacation in Newfoundland and we felt the Inn at the Cape offered the best overall value of all we have experienced.

We stayed at Inn at the Cape for three nights after taking the ferry to Newfoundland. It is "off the beaten path" but we very much enjoyed the serenity and peacefulness of this B&B and its surrounding peninsula. Inn at the Cape has large, spacious rooms with private baths, coffee maker, table and chairs and refrigerator. The rooms have a common balcony, from which one can look at the ocean and even see whales. The cost of the rooms includes buffet breakfast (pancakes, bacon, eggs made to order, toast, cereal, juices) and buffet supper (a wide variety of foods each nights with various salads and wonderful desserts). The area offers places to watch the various seabirds and some smaller attractions, like an alpaca farm. It is very relaxing - perfect if you are looking for a quiet spot to start or end your vacation. You can eat your meal at a private table but we would recommend sitting with other guests and enjoying their company. We greatly enjoyed our time there.

Room Tip: We had a room on the second floor and loved the view.

When I walked into the Inn at the Cape, the owner was not at all friendly. She made me feel like I was bothering her. When I told her our name, she knew we had reserved a room, so she handed me a key and told me our room number. She never told us that a buffet supper was included in the price of the room ($119.00). She never told us if we could sit in the sitting room or the living room. She didn't tell us anything. Her unfriendliness really put a damper on my time at the inn. I didn't really feel comfortable there.

Our room was a good size with two comfortable queen size beds, a nice round table, a chair, two night tables, a refrigerator, and a closet. I enjoyed the porch which we could exit to directly from our room and from which you could see the water. The bathroom was decent but does need a few repairs. I would say that this place, which is in the country, is homey as opposed to luxurious.

My husband enjoyed the night buffet. (I do not like buffets.) We met the man owner at the buffet. He was very friendly.

I liked the blueberry pancakes that were served in the morning. The pancakes and bacon were served buffet style. They would also make eggs for you if you wanted them.

This place is not near anything except other houses. It would be difficult to take a walk as there are no sidewalks and the road is narrow.

Tired and traveling with a dog we were warmly welcomed. A reasonable price included a full dinner with wine and also full breakfast. The rooms were very clean and the owners friendly. We were very pleased and highly recommend.

Room Tip: Dinner is at 6.30pm. Be on time and enjoy the food and company.

Enjoyed an extra 2 days here, room was clean and comfortable and the food was great and a good variety. the owner is very knowledgeable about the area as well as being the local Mayor.
Does have a lot off stairs, but this is rural Newfoundland and being a little rough around the edges adds to the enjoyment.Would stay here again if the chance come up.

In June 2013 based on Newfoundland Labrador 2013 Travel Guide we booked the Romantic Room (#15) at the "Inn At The Cape" in Cape St. George NL. The Inn is rated as 3.5 stars.....2 to 2.5 stars would be lots. We took a quick tour of the dining room, and our requested room and decided to take a pass. The Inn is quite large, seems to be under construction/renovation, has lots of stairs and my in wife's description "cluttered". Having been in the mine contracting business and travelled the world I can only describe this Inn as being similar to a boarding house. Sorry but thats the way we saw it. The "Port Au Port" peninsula has a number of small villages with very few places to get a meal.

Room Tip: Write ups and pictures don't necessarily tell the whole story.........check it out as best you c...

This was a great home with an ocean view. The room was large and cozy with a door leading right to the deck that looked over the ocean. We had a nice surprise when they told us they served us a buffet supper that was really varied and delicious. The sitting room was large and comfortable.
The buffet breakfast was also very good . The price was right too.

Room Tip: There are handicapped rooms.
