“a pleasant surprise!”
Reviewed March 15, 2012

An unplanned trip to Licata turned out to be a very pleasant surprise mostly due to the very friendly and helpful owners of this inn. Locals we met in Ortegia appeared to be perplexed as to why we would even want to bother going to Licata but we drove there to meet friends and from there struck out to Agregente on a day trip. The owner of the Inn in Licata arranged a spectacular lunch catered by a nearby restaurant for us and our friends in the middle of the tiny Square in the shade of the 15th c. church. Breakfasts in the square were always fresh, our room, also right off the square on ground level, was large and clean, and the hotel staff was attentive and charming.

The owners have bought multiple properties around a small piazza in the old town of Licata with a 5-10min walk to the center. The rooms have furnished in accordance to the overall atmosphere of the old town and the piazza. The rooms are big and the one we had included also a small stove and a refrigerator.

What makes this place special is the owner. She is very enthustiatic to meet new people and do everything to cater her clients and ensure they enjoy their holiday.

The breakfast offered was very generous and included a large variety of sweets, pastries, breads, marmelades and drinks (cappuccino, tea, juices).

If I must point out one negative thing about the place it is the noise in the morning. As in any old building the soundproofing is not on par with new buildings and some noise does penetrate into the room in the mornings.

Room Tip: There is at least one room with a stove and refrigerator if you wish to cook your own meals.

The hotel was good and clean, we got a big room, with very helpful staff. They recommended a good restaurant for dinner. Free parking. But the town was boring, not much to see and do.

A little treasure almost unexpected in the heart of the old part of Licata. We stayed for two nights in a lovely room with tasteful antique furniture with a balcony overlooking a picturesque piazza and a church from the 15th century. Nice owners, superb and very friendly service, plenty fresh and tasty breakfast served in the middle of the piazza.
Easy free parking and free internet!!!
But be aware that you are staying in a typical Sicilian neighbourhood where people communicate via balconies...

Thanks for this wonderful experience!

very typical bed and breakfast, you should say luxury hotel, with beautiful rooms around a little square kept as a courtyard.
Sure, the town needs to be better kept by the public authorities, who abandon it at itself.

We stayed there for 3 nights and it was horrible. The city itself is absolutely dirty and shows more decay than anything else. The "hotel" is an old monastery and consists of some buildings round a square (not seperated from the neighbourhood - in fact being part of it). The room was dark, there was not even a proper window. The bathroom smelled heavily and was tiny - in fact it was the room under the staircase and one could see the stairs over one's head. The room was not cosy, looked more like a museum than a hotel room. Although the room was cleaned every day it still did not seem so and one did not feel comfortable to spend time within the room. The nights were impressively short as the neighbourhood would wake up very early in the morning (5:30) and start shouting, hammering or stuff alike. The breakfast was poor - there was hardly any choice. The food offered was ok though. There is a beach near to the hotel, next to the harbour, appr. 1 km away from the hotel Although the beach could be a wonderful site (panorama, landscape), it's all dirty and one doesn't like to stay long amidst dog poop, litter, and all other sorts of junk. The price for the hotel was far too high. Overall neither the city nor the hotel are worth going there.

The best B&B we stayed in during our two week round trip of Sicily. Beautifully furnished, clean and well kept. We were welcomed by the owner with great hospitability.
In the morning we woke up to a delicious breakfast served in the little square, with fresh jouices, homemade marmelades, cakes, meats, cheeses, newly baked bread and coffee of our choice. The place has a feeling of beeing in a nice quarter in Venice. You can easily visit Licata just to get to stay in this place.
